CVT transmission fluid mini cooper 04 automatic

I have a 2004 mini cooper automatic. The transmission fluid cooler needs replacing and I'm told that my mini takes a special fluid that I can only get from a mini dealer. I am on vacation in Maine and the closest dealer is in Peabody, Massachusetts. Can you tell me where I could get a transmission fluid that will work. The Bentley Mini Cooper manual states it uses ESSO CVT E2L 799 fluid. Does Ford have anything or is something that I can get at an AutoZone? Any suggestions would be super helpful! Thank you!

It's an automatic. Martin538; The Bentley Manual is wrong? It says Esso CVT E2L 799, but it's Z2L??? Is that right?

After turning off my car-2006 automatic - a fan keeps running for 4 to 5 minutes. Is this a potential problem? Any thing I can do now to prevent a large bill? Thanks.

The manual has a mis print, according to MINI the correct oil to use is ESSO CVT Z2L 799 fluid and there are no other manufacturers that use it so sorry but you will have to buy it from the main dealer.

Ok, i checked out some other sources and the correct fluid would be the ESSO CVT E2L 799 and, there are no alternative sources for this blend of lubricant unfortunately. The only source will be the Mini cooper dealerships.

Please rate and god bless:)

I have a 2007 maxima do i get the cvt fluid drained i been told no and yes

CVT fluid certainly wears out over time. It should be changed much sooner than automatic or manual transmission oil. CVT fluid has to be in acceptable condition to protect against metal-to-metal contact. It also has to provide the correct frictional properties. Once the CVT fluid has broken down, poor performance and accelerated wear can start.
CVT transmissions are very expensive to replace. Being mindful of regular CVT fluid changes will pay off in the long run.
In fact, changing fluid a bit earlier than the recommended interval is prudent for most motorists. This will help provide consistent operation and improved transmission longevity. If you intend to keep your car for a long time, it's a good idea to schedule regular CVT fluid changes.

Nissan- CVT fluid change recomdations Cube, Altima, Juke, Maxima, Micra, Murano, Pathfinder, Qashqai, Rogue, Sentra, X-Trail, Versa- 60,000 miles (96,000 km) /Severe service 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 24 months, whichever comes first.

2015 subaru forester with cvt tranny as good as 2013 with a 4 speed automatic tranny? can the cvt go 200,000 miles

The problem with answering that question is that not enough CVT's have been on the road long enough to really do a good analysis of their longevity. I know that if taken care of, a conventional automatic transmission can go the distance. My mothers car was a 2004 Nissan CVT which has almost 200K and hasn't faltered one bit. You have to think about which one would be more expensive to repair/replace out of pocket. Which one is cheaper to service/maintain, I do know that CVT fluid is more expensive than conventional auto trans fluid. I personally like feeling the car shift, and the conventional would be my choice at that point based on aesthetics. I hope this info helps!

How can i install another automatic transmision fluid cooler to a 2006 mini cooper s

air transmission oil coolers lower oil temp by over 60%( more it the ambient temp is low) so yes they are the way to go
what is suggested is that you go to an accredited transmission specialist shop and get a kit made for mini cars and see how to fit it properly
They are not cheap( up to $500.00 aud ) but will ,save in transmission costs over time

04 nissan sentra shifting hard

Do you have a CVT? (Continuosly Variable Transmission) I doubt that you do so if you dont, nissans are known to have hard shift into second gear you mean.(Once the car moves, its already in first gear) so if it shifts fine into other gears, I wouldnt worry too much unless it gets worse.

Automatic mini jumps forward when put into drive

If your Mini is the CVT automatic, the problem may be software-related. There was a software upgrade issued under warranty during 2002 / 2003. It would be surprising if your car missed out on the upgrade - but worth a check with your Mini dealer.

Next thing to check is your car's battery. If the battery is getting old (and the original battery in a 2002 car would be OLD), you should consider replacing it with a similar high-output battery. The CVT transmission needs plenty of electrical power to operate correctly. After replacing the battery, the transmission will take a couple of days to re-learn your driving technique and return to its original honey-smooth operation.

If the battery replacement doesn't fix things, I regret to inform you that the dealer will become your best and most expensive friend.

CVT 2002 Mini Cooper transmission check and change

The only way to check the trans fluid is to drain the fluid right out of the trans pan. There should be 5 liters. The only way to get the fluid in is by pumping the fluid back in by means of the fill plug on the lower front of the transmission. I believe it is a 4 or a 6mm allen to remove the plug. Whatever you use to pump the fluid back in needs to seal where the fill plug is because fluid will pour right back out. I would change the fluid at least every 50k.
