I have problem of cold start in da mornings on my 2002 corsa bakkie 1.7d non turbo.i have changed the glow plugs n when its starts it lets off a lot of black smoke.it also very sluggish up hills.

Check the cylinder compression! Could be low compression causing lack of power! Smoke could indicate spark not big enough, since glow plugs changed check ignition leads!

My Toyota Innova Diesel emits too much smoke. I've cleaned the EGR valve repeatedly but the problem comes back again after only a few days.

first make sure your air filter is clean. and make sure your oil level is correct.
lack of enough air will cause a lot of smoke and poor fuel economy
lack of air would show as gray to black smoke.
oil burning would be light gray to white

Mondeo Mk3 TDCI suspected fuel contamination

indicates that the fuel was petrol and not diesel
best id to drain the tank , change the fuel filters and refill with the correct fuel
could be contaminated tank at the station but as most have a petrol and diesel hoses side by side it is easy to fill from the wrong hose

Black smoke from exhaust but computor saying 44.5 mpg around town. 2.0ltr. mondeo deisel

Your duplicate question did not say it was a diesel.
Usually black smoke on a diesel is dirty injectors or the engine temp not reaching normal range.

My 04 F250 diesel truck is loosing power every time I accelarate or go uphill and sometimes lets out a substantial amount of blue smoke from the exhaust. I changed the EGR Valve, and it improved for one...

Check the air filter and check the fuel filter. Most diesels lose power from a dirty air filter and moisture or dirt in the fuel filter. When you remove the fuel filter pour the fuel in a glass jar and let it sit awhile if you see two different fluids in the jar you have water at the bottom and fuel on top and need to replace the fuel filter. I think the EGR valve may have been a coincidence. let me know .

Lack of power, exhaust smoke and engine miss firing, EGR Valve has been removed and cleaned, new EGR Valve was fitted, made no difference, old EGR Valve refitted, car runs with no exhaust smoke and no miss...

Just an idea but the Ford Mondeo ( european car ) from which I believe your engine
is taken has a habit of splitting a low pressure tube at the back
of the engine this is a relatively
cheap, easy fix. The other symptom this used to throw up was a
little more black smoke from the exhaust and a pacing/ surging from
the engine.

Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.

Renault megane diesel black smoke

This could be as simple as the EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve stuck open. This valve is supposed to open at a specific time, recycling the exhaust gasses back through the engine. If they stick open, the engine is not getting the correct air mixture to burn the fuel efficently, causing black smoke and lack of power. Have the garage remove and blank off this valve. If it runs ok, then a new EGR is needed.

Black smoke from exhaust

This is almost certainly a split hose - mine was the large hose coming out of the bottom of the EGR valve.

Speaking to a parts guy at my local Jaguar dealer, he said that the new part is uprated as Jaguar are aware that this is a problem.

The split allows more air in and results in the ECU changing the mixture and over fuelling - Black smoke is an indication of un-burnt Diesel. As well as the black smoke you may also notice a whistle/whine or sucking noise when you accelerate and a lack of power / lumpiness at around 2000rpm.

Hope that helps!
