Gearbox oil how do you top up the gearbox oil on a kia sedona 2.9diesel on a 03 plate

I presume you have got oil in the engine. If you haven't checked it, do it now and maybe your coolant levels might give a problem when you spring a leak in the pipework for the rear heater. If you have been losing coolant and have just been topping up the expansion bottle, check that the coolant is up to the full on the cap that is on the engine, (DO NOT OPEN WHEN ENGINE IS HOT) also check your brake fluid level as well, although that would give a different warning

get the codes first ,as it can be your linkages under the car that is loose from your gear-stick to your gearbox.or it can just be a need for a fluid change .

you need to do a full transmission oil change
while the pan is off have the bands and clutch packs adjusted
also have the fault codes read as there could be a pressure problem or a torque converter clutch servo/ solenoid problem
too much oil will cause the oil to overheat and burn

how do i fill the gearbox up

Among the things you have to remove are:-
The gearbox oil
The side shafts
The starter
Some cover plates
The gear linkages
The clutch cable or automatic fluid hoses, (whichever applies)
The speedometer cable/wires
The reverse light wires,
The mounts and possibly one engine mount (support the engine)
Once EVERYTHING has been removed, the box has to slide sideways for about 4 inches before it will come free. (They say removing an engine or gearbox is one way to see how long you can stretch certain cables and wires with your lifting equipment).

are you actually low on oil? if not the wire to the oil sensor prob got knocked off

To fill the transmission fluid, you need a funnel that fits into the dipstick tube, add fluid there. If the fluid is black and smells burnt, that's bad. I would have the fluid changed. These transmissions don't have a filter, probally a bad idea.

this job is easy enough the 4 bolts hold shock mounting plate undo plate with shock .attatched remove from car as you will probebly have to cut old shock to separate from plate due .to nuts being corroded on top of shock
