Working on 1988 chevy Scottsdale the clutch line got a leak so I changed it and tried to bleed and nothkng. I checked to see if master cylinder was pumping and had to replace also. Dealer said he replaced slave but it doesnt really look new, it looks as old as truck. Tried bleeding again and got nothing. I suspect its the slave but the master cylinder doesnt pump out as much fluid as id believe it would. Im stumped please help.

If you can get a hand operated vacuum pump and seal it in place of the cap on the master cylinder apply vacuum and you will see the air bubbles being removed from the slave cylinder. It has always worked for me.

also I forgot to add, I put my finger over open bleeder and instead of feeling pressure outwards toward my finger it was sucking. I know thats not right but dont know what it could be.

SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

if you loosten the slave bleeder screw and push in the clutch pedal fluid should come out if not make sure someone holds down the pedal and tighten the screw then pump the clutch a few times and hold the pedal and open the screw if no fluid repeat a couple of times if still no fluid you need either a new master cylinder or just rebuild it( normally cheaper) and if you rebuild it make sure you flush all the lines of debris

SOURCE: Replace master cylinder on 93

you dont tell me why you replaced the master, but i would say the slave needs replaced.the reason the fluid is not bleeding is because the fluid is not getting past the seals in the slave, ie slave cyclinder piston is siezed try removing it and replacing the seals, but sometimes its cheaper just to replace it good luck.adrian,,,,

SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

i think youre doing the right thing. they are very stubborn to bleed because the hyd. line goes up high across back of engine before droppiing back down to slave cyl., trapping air. could try to gravity bleed by opening bleeder at slave, cap off of master cyl, full with fluid then it may start to come out after a bit. then try your process again. or can try to bleed at connections further up the line, working your way back to bleeder. hope this helps. be patient.

SOURCE: Changed clutch master cyl. and clutch still goes to floor

Your brake flexible hoses could be to blame. This is a common fault on the Escort. Have a friend press down on the brake peddle and feel the front flexible brake hoses. They should expand slightly, if this is the case then they must be replaced.

Chevy 88 1500 chevy scottsdale

I take it that you are talking clutch system . There will be little pressure in the master cyl side until you bleed out all the air. The suction you feel is when the piston returns and draws in more fluid from the reservoir so that there is a full charge of fluid for the next stroke. remove the bleed screw and place your finger over the hole and use your finger as a valve until you get full fluid flow. Replace the bleed screw and finally bleed out the air . that got in while you were replacing the screw.

Why does clutch leak off and wont go into gear 96 toyota tacoma when you push on clutch pedal goes to the floor it wont engage clutch to be able to put into gear

the most likely reason is either the clutch master cyl. needs to be replaced.or the.slave cyl. its mounted down on the transmation under the hood find the resivore for the clutch. check the fluid level.if its low , fill it back up , and look for signs of a leak
you will probally have to bleed out all of the air from the system.its done almost the same way as bleeding the brakes. Good Luck.

Mazda e2200 clutch repair: feels like I still have some kind of pedal springback, but without much force. No clutch at all. I assume it is hydraulic, but the only reservoir I see is for the brakes. That is...

Yes, hydraulic--check again--fender side of brake master. Slave is usual cause of leak that eventually causes master reservoir to go dry and start drawing air. Check slave for leak. If leaking, replace slave and bleed system. Make sure to bench-bleed slave before installation by opening bleeder and pouring fluid into line port.

  1. Raise and support the front end on jackstands.
  2. Back off the flare nut on the fluid pipe to free the slave cylinder hose.
  3. Pull off the hose-to-bracket retaining clip and pull the hose from the bracket. Cap the pipe to prevent fluid loss.
  4. Unbolt and remove the slave cylinder.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the bolt to 12-17 ft. lbs. (16-23 Nm).

Chevy s-10 clutchwill not disengage

Have you checked to make sure you still have fluid in your clutch master cylinder reservoir? If there is no fluid left or the reservoir looks low, can you see any sighns of leakage? If it looks ok, try bleeding your clutch master cylinder - you possibly have air in the line. If you try all of this and it still doesn't work - most likely your master cylinder has in internal seal leak and needs to be rebuilt/replaced.

Clutch pedal goes to floor

Its sounds like a bad clutch cylinder or bad slave cylinder or fluid leaking. First check brake fluid level in clutch master , and check for a leak in clutch system. If there are NO leaks, then you either have a bad clutch cylinder or a slave cylinder. Bleed clutch at bleeder screw on slave cylinder and make sure there is pressure from master cylinder. If there is pressure then slave cylinder may be bad replace slave and bleed and that should take care of you problem. If master is bad then replace bleed system ad you should be good.
