SOURCE: 2001 Honda Civic Key Green light keep flashing in the dashboard

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Turn your key on. Do not try to start the engine. Leave the key on for 10 minutes, until the security light stops flashing. Turn off the key when the light stops flashing. Then, turn on the key and crank the engine. It will start.

2001 honda civic a green key displayed

The flashing green key icon when turning off your car? Ignition security system, requires chipped key to start. It's sort of like the GM and Ford flashing red light to announce the security system is active.

Security light flashes, and car want start, except bye the starter, and suddenly stops.

Depending on the year of vehicle how the security system works (you didn`t specify year or model). Older models up to 1997 use passlock I, they have a chip in the shaft of the key, and usually break in the steering column just behind the ignition key cylinder. You will need to know the code number of the key, and will have to order a new ignition cylinder and new keys. After 1997 its passlock II which has the chip inside the head of the key. It learns the code of the key and ensures its the correct key every time you start the car. The most likely problem with this system is the passlock sensor in the ignition switch. Try turning key to run (do not crank) leave key on for 10 minutes, the security light should be flashing. When it stops flashing or goes solid (after 10 min relearn) try to start again. If starts you will need the passlock sensor soon. It probably has a trouble code set in the BCM (body control computer).

My security light is on and flashing, wont let me start the car and keep it running, how do i turn the security system off or reset it

leave the key in the ignition, turned to 'run' (just before the crank position) and leave it there for about 15 minutes-the security light will then stop flashing-do NOT turn it off, turn it to crank and start the car. You have a security module that is not seeing the same resistance in the ignition switch as it expects, meaning you will have to either replace the ignition switch (expensive) or bypass the module (easy and inexpensive)-I have done lots of these, requires about 15 cents worth of parts and can be done in 1/2 hour.

What does it mean when your check enine light is on and the security light is flashing and your car wont start?

If the security light is flashing than the security system is active. It has shut down the fuel injectors and will not let you car start. What you need to do is turn the key to the run position, do not turn all the way to the start position, and leave it there until the theft light stops flashing (10-20 minutes). Once it stops flashing turn the key to the crank position and see if it starts.

You may want to have a battery charger on the battery or at least turn off all the accessories so you don't drain the battery.
