I have a 1991 cadillac sedan deville and my transmission locks up most of the time. at first it would only do it in reverse but now it does it in all gears. what it does is when i start it and put it into gear it will go into gear however it acts like ist still in park aswell and will not move. park and neutral still rev freely but when it locks neutral will not even allow the vehicle to roll freely. my linkage is hooked up properly. sometimes i can play with it enough and make it go into drive by shifting from neutral to drive and if i dont put the vehicle into reverse or park it will continue to work in all other gears however if i put it back into neutral or park it will lock up all the gears again. any information will help.

It sounds like they didn't get the cooling system filled completely, there's an air bubble. I had a problem with a 2000 Oldsmobile overheating, it turned out to be the aftermarket thermostat. I bought a stat from GM the problem went away.
