SOURCE: automatic transmission< while in drive wont shift

change your transmission filter: no or, very little movement and, no shifting indicates a clogged hydrolic circuit
do not continue to drive your car at that rpm until you fix this as engine damage can occur

SOURCE: 04 cayenne transmission rebuilt but car does not move on drive or reverse

Does it have enough oil in the gearbox ,these newer motors have a special filling procedure from the bottom ,their is no dipstick and a level tube in the bottom of the box whereby its filled then the usual dealer software to programme the box and then its refilled again if needed ,if the transmission fluid is low it shut the box down via the computer ,come across before on later VWs with auto box and i filled one through the breather till the level appeared correct for the amout of fluid ,although i couldnt tell as this plug lets the oil out and you need a special tool for this which isnt sold only to dealers ,i made mine from a big piece of cork but ? Still wouldnt work as the computer went into protection mode .So i gave up and it went into dealer for a bill and a half usual story this and that was wrong and a new gearbox needed as no spare parts sold seperatly and all i done was to drain the oil to change it what a rip off

MY CAR STARTS GREAT BUT WHEN I SHIFT IT INTO DRIVE IT WILL NOT MOVE, I ALSO SHIFT IT IN REVERSE SAME PROBLEM

Check trans filter, and fluid. When you pull the drain plug, stick your finger in the hole and rub the magnet inside the case to check for metal pieces or fragments,Pull the trans pan an check for fragments of metal and/or bands. The first and reverse gears are in the same set[sun gear].might need to be rebuilt or replaced.12 hours labor to take out and put back in by a certified shop at 100 dollars an hour not counting the price for a trans or to rebuild it.Its alot cheaper to take it out yourself and put it back.

I have an 2000 honda accord ex v6 3.0 with reverse gear

IT sounds like your reverse gear is going out, or that you need to have filter replaced my best advise is have your transmission checked out by a transmission shop as soon as possible.

1999 F250 only goes in reverse, no forward gears.

I believe that reverse is operated by a brake band. So it seems to be stuck. It is operated by a piston, and the seal could have swelled and caused too much friction. But you could loosen up the adjustor so that it is disengaged, in order to get forward gears again. Perhaps you can force the piston to retract as well, once you drop the pan again.

Reverse suddenly quit 95 toyota camry 4cyl auto

Check your transmission fluid level asap. if the level is good, you will need to inspect the shift solenoids located inside the transmission pan. replace any solenoids that are proven to be faulty. i would also advise to test the pcm/tcm for its operational value as well. this device controls the shifting patterns of the auto trans.

while checking the solenoids, if you notice any metal fragments on the bottom of the pan, this will be a sign of major gear friction. you should re build in this case.

Won't go into any gears except for reverse

Hi, if you have noticed any metal fragments at all, this will constitute a rebuild in this case. this trans was stressed to the max when the previous owner lost the fluid and blew the gear pack. i would just rebuild at this point. the seal is not the issue here. the pack is fried.

Honda accord automatic trans not responding. the fuel looks burnt

Sounds like the forward gears are fried. To confirm if you damaged the tranny, you'll have to drop the transmission pan and check for shrapnel. If the pan is loaded with metal fragments you're probably looking at a new or rebuilt transmission. One thing you can try is replacing the fluid and filter. It's a long shot but I've seen it fix the problem before and it's worth trying before investing in a new transmission.

Transmission bad

Hi. the first thing here is to check the transmission fluid level. If its not low, i would schedule a transmission flush with the filter change. If the trans mission is still having a hard time shifting after the flush and filter change, you may have a bad shift solenoid that may need to be replaced. This will require you or the tech to drop the transmission pan. the solenoids are located there inside the pan and, if they are malfunctioning, the transmission with shift abnormally. while the pan is dropped, you or your mechanic should inspect the bottom of the pan for small metal fragment. if there is any type of metal gear fragments that are laying on the pan once it is visible, this will confirm major gear separation. You will have to rebuild this transmission at this time.

Please rate and god bless.

2003 nissan sentra gxe trouble shifting into 2nd gear on auto transmission...dealer and aamco say nothing wrong any suggestions?

Hi. The Nissan has been known to have issues with the stock solenoids that are installed by the factory. The transmission also has a OD shift solenoid as well. I would do two things. ONe, check the fluid level if you can. It shouldn't be caped with a plug but, some models have sealed transmissions. If your model has a dip stick, please check the level of the transmission fluid. If the level is ok, i would drop the pan and check the solenoids to make sure that they are working properly. while the pan is dropped, It will be good to visually inspect the bottom of the pan for metal fragments and discolored fluid. If you see anything not normal like black fluid or metal small fragments, this will not be normal. Although, the shift patterns of this model are quite unusual, I would recommend using the instructions above to make sure that this transmission is not malfunctioning.

please rate and have a great weekend..

Vibration in reverse

Unfortunately, your probably looking at serious automatic trans problems. What I would do is change the transmission oil and filter. When the pan is off, you can check for clues like oil condition (if it smells burnt or is black or brown; indicates burnt/worn cluch friction disks/steels), metal filings/fragments in the pan or the filter (indicates mechanical damage), etc. I can help through all these steps. Basicly checking these things are your best indicator of transmission condition short of putting a pressure guage on it and doing road/pressure tests. While under it check shifter linkage by having someone shift through the gears with the engine off while you inspect the linkage. Be sure to block the tires good, set the e brake, because when they take it out of park it could potentially roll and KILL or injure you. Hope this helps.

Hi! There's a broken part of the transmisson caseing internally that is restricting the proper synchronizing of the reverse gear.
The gear of the transmission is made out of steel not aluminum .So yes! that broken part is the problem.
