I just got a 2008 Cobalt and I didn't like the way the headrest tilted my head forward. I found that I could remove the headrest and turn it around. It is much more comfortable that way.
The first step is to lift the headrest to the highest height.
Then insert a paper clip in the little hole on the side of the headrest slide. (You may have to press the realease ad lift on the other side first)
The headrest will then lift out completely.
Flip it around and put it back in.
You will need the paper clip to adjust the height, but this seems like a one time adjustment.
There is a Pin hole on one side of the headrest in the plastic base. You have someone put a small Allen wrench in the hole till it presses against the metal spring and also on the release on the other side, then pull the headrest out. You will have to press on the spring to put the head rest back in also.
try putting a small screwdriver into the slots around the pole white ring on the bottom of headreat and pulling it out at same time. I would recommend two people doing this.
Lift the headrest to the full upright position, and you will notice on
the plastic piece where the headrest rod goes into, there should be a
small hole in the plastic piece, insert a small tool or paperclip, and then pull the headrest off
hello, you need to remove your rear seat,,look for your your headrest valve ,there is a lock pin with tension clip in headrest rod ,remove the pin,try to remove your headrest slowly,ty
Im doing the same thing.. Push the headrest full forward, then lift hard to get past last indent in pole.. This worked for the front as well.. i also could not find a hole to push
There is a plastic cover, about 1 1/8" diameter, on the base of the post on each side. You can remove it with a screw driver by carefully prising upwards at the edge. They just clip down.
Once these are lifted away from the seat, you will see the wire clip that locks the headrest into the seat. Remove the clip on each post, and you can then remove the headrest.
Reassembly is the reverse.
I just have a rental Cobalt and want to take the headrest off the passenger side so my surfboard will fit, so far I'm reaching for a crowbar.
figured it out :o) there is a small pinhole that you need to push in with a pin and at the same time pull up on the headrest.
check owner manual or look for a button to depress. Some just pull up fast.
