I think my mechanic is over charging me..

I was told by my mechanic that I needed 4 new tires. I looked them up at on line and he is chargin double the price. He also said the rear pinion seal is leaking and charges $465. also the front lower control arm ball joints are worn, $700. also if I get four new tires what one of these should be done above things should be done when the tires are done.

It's good to shop around for new tires, the mechanic may not have a good deal from the supplier. Therefore, he needs to charge more. Just shop around in your area for better deals on tires.

As for the other repairs, the first thing you'll need to get done is the front lower control arm ( the worn ball joint ). Worn out suspension parts will cause premature wear on the tires. Because, it would not be holding the tire steady and it would be basically " out of alignment ".
If I remember correctly, the whole control arm would have to be replaced, because the ball joint isn't changeable in the control arm. I believe that's why he's asking $700.
The mechanic again probably doesn't have a good deal on his parts supplier. I think it's too high myself. I would call around other shop for better prices. Other shops that have better deals on their suppliers will usually pass the saving to the customer.

Sadly old Audis, Audi parts and Audi mechanics are very expensive.
Maybe it's time you found another garage.

You would save money by changing to another brand of car.  Being a Audi Quatro owner I speak from experience.  I love my Japanese cars.  Never a problem.

Front end problems in stering had alined 4 times and stll drifts from side to side at 60 plus miles an hour and new tires where to look next??

Sway bar links, sway bar bushings, or the sway bar is broken. I would go back and retrieve my money. You would think with this problem(I'm sure you told them), they would have caught this. The first one probably aligned it, the others, just charged you. You have this in front and back. Drift is sway. I would have checked both.

What causes "swollen" lug nuts

You need a new mechanic. There is no such thing as swollen lug nuts. Most likely, they were damaged during the last service.

Uneven tire wear and struts problem

Sounds like you should have the alignment checked on an alignment machine on all 4 wheels.Once you get those readings and an expert alignment mechanic's estimate on repair, only then will you know the correct repairs needed.

I had to buy a new sensor because one broke when buying new tires. Now the indicator light won't go off. The tire shop told me it would go off after a few miles but 4 months later it has not. I've tried...

yeah in sure the tire shop told you your sensor broke and they had to replace it. ok now u gotta take the car to the dealer they should only charge you 1 hour you can take it to a toyota dealer ship they can help the only reason i tell you this is because they have to reprogram all 4 sensors it doesnt take them an hour to replace them it takes about 10 mins or so but be specific with them tell them the only thing that your there for is reprograming the tire sensor tell them what happened and tell them u replaced all the sensor already the warrenty only pays them .9 to mount and balance 1 tire and reprogram the tires

Fan Belt replaced a week ago on a Saturn Vue

Wow $151.99 even if they did changed the belt, that seams a bit to high. Yes there right though the belt can look oil after a few days and a few miles of driving, most places give you the old belt and ask you what you'ld like done with it such as to keep it in your trunk just in case of an emergency that you break a belt. The other thing you can look is on the inside of the belt where the ribs are and see if there are a lot of cracks and if the belt is hard and not soft. Old belt's over a year get's hard and crack lines on the inside. Good luck and most places like Auto Zone will help change the belt's for you with no extra charge when you buy it there. Good luck

I have a nail in one tire of my sequoia. Do I need to replace all

If the tires are really worn down and look like they are dry rotting..(cracks) it may be a good idea to get a new set. Also note some vehicles do develope a problem with the abs and 4 wd sensors when tires are different in diameter it's a good bet that they may be looking out for your safty.
