90 Accord won't shift

The flashing s light means a transmission problem. The transmission computer is under the carpet on passenger side under where you put your feet. Pull down the carpet to see the diagnostic light. Turn on the key to count the flashes to get the code. Pulll a list of codes from the internet.
If your trans shifts properly if you manually shift it thru the gears, going from D1, D2 D3 but feels like it is starting in second when in drive at a stop, the computer is probably the issue, and can be repaired or exchanged for a good computer, lots of companies do this ,find 1 on the internet.

Check your transmission fluid level first before doing anything else, and also note the color of the fluid. If it's dark then it needs to be changed. If it's low, you should do a transmission fluid change and fill it with 2.6 quarts of Hobda ATF fluid

Iam thinking more along the lines of the lockiing solonoid action under the gear lever but ?? i would need my head under the bonnet to try to work out the cause in all honesty ,this fault is not something i come across every day as most europeon cars are manuals

i have two things that come to mind first of which is your neutral safety switch ...its located on the clutch pedal ..its to prevent the car from being started in gear it may not be working correctly and wont let power to the started when you turn the key...most likely the problem...the other thing if thats not it you may need to check the ignition switch...

Change your transmission and filter, and you should be fine

change the fluid. if that dnt help i have a used trans for sale [email protected]

probly not. hate to say it but if its grinding then u need a new trans

On my 1990 Accord Lx I have the same problem.  My floor pan has a hole in it some where and my carpet gets wet which gets my computer wet causeing the "S" light to flash and then when my tranny shifts it skips 2nd gear.

It sounds like you have a bad Ignition Control Module. When they are cool they work fine, but when they get hot, they **** out.

check your filters " air, fuel "
they may be clogged
check your plugs they may be burnt
and last you may have clogged injectors and will need to be cleaned out, they get clogged with mold and debri
