1999 Buick Centery passenger side windshield wiper

Wiper will not sweep full arc along with driver side wiper but moves in smaller and smaller arcs toward low end of move on passenger side and thumps hard as it tries to go downward. I don't know how to make it move correctly to swipe the window at same time driver's wiper is doing it.

Thanks for trying, Rory, but I am about to think I need to take my lovely old Century to a dealer for new windshield wiper. Nobody seems to know what to do at other repair places. I did move the wipers around. I think also that the snow removal and ice removal that was done to the wipers over the winter really damaged them.

Sounds like you need two new wiper motors. I beliveve the gearing inside the motors are worn out and now theres alot of play in them. Try wiggling the wipers with you hands and see if you can feel any up or down / side to side movement.

Only my driver side windshield wiper isnt working

at the base of the wiper arm theres a small cap to cover the point where the arm is mounted to the mechanism, remove the cap and tighten the nut ,you may have to loosen and tighten this nut a few times to adjust the arc of movement of the arm,ie,it may move too far across and foul the other wiper or too far down and foul the window lip,a bit of trial and error should see it working as good as new,
its nothing to do with fuses or electrics of any sort its just a loose nut on the wiper arm mount is all

1999 plymouth voyager van windshield wipers

Either the wiper arms are loose or stripped on the pivots or the wiper linkage is broken. Try tightening the arm to pivot bolt. If that doesn't work, remove the plastic cowling and examine the linkage. You can buy new linkage for it.

Windshield wipers out of sync 2005 monte carlo

If only one wiper arm is out of sync it means that arm has come loose. To repair it take that arm off and activate the wiper to get it into park position. then re- mount the bad arm in the park position, making sure the nut is tight. Check the splines on the bad arm because they strip easily and sometimes have to be replaced if it does not tighten down

I have a 1994 Buick LeSabre LTD. The drivers side wiper blade strikes the left edge of the windshield window frame (the piece that holds up the roof). It actually rides up and over that piece (i.e, off the...

Yes, there is a small cap at the base of the arm, you lift that cap up and find a nut. Loosen the nut and jiggle the arm until it slides up and off the splined shaft. Do not pry and it may help to spray some WD40 around the shaft threads and let it seep down into the splines. Then you put the arm back on just one spline counterclockwise. That way its maximum out sweep will be moved back while its inward will be a bit closer to the bottom of the windshield. It generally helps to put a piece of tape on the windshield along the wiper blade edge to mark the old position of the arm so you do not put it back on in the same position. If that does not help you, you may need to look into a new wiper transmission as yours has too much slop in it. But it costs nothing to try the first method.

You may want to remove the cover over the wiper nut and tighten it down. Make sure you don't exceed the torque settings. The nuts have a tendency to back off causing the wipers (or one wiper) to slip.

The windshield wiper arc on my Pontiac Aztek

The wiper blades are probably generics, or your technician put the wrong blades on. (most likely generics). I would reccommend going to a Pontiac dealership and getting factory blades. OEM parts are highly reliable.

Windshield wiper

Check to see if the wiper motor moves the passenger side. If so, You may need to tighten the nut that connects the arm to the motor. Mine was stripped out because or snow & ice. So, I went to home depot and found a lock washer to fit.
