Service engine soon light came on and later that day turned off

My service engine soon light came on in my 2006 mitsubishi evo ix earlier today and I read the owners manual it said not to drive it. So then I call the dealership but they said it was fine if it wasnt blinking. Well I had to get to work so I drove. Then when I got off I got in my car started it and the light wasnt on. And hasnt come back on. What could be the problem or was it just a fluke?

The reason for the light to come on an the after you have switched the vehicle off and back on again and the engine light stays dead is because the control units of the vehicle will reset when the ignition is switched off for 10sec. If the light stays off the it might be that the car got a wrong reading from a sensor and caused the engine light to come on. If it was a serious problem the light would have come on again

I connected the interface off an Autoenginuity scantool to the port under the dash, started and ran the car a couple days with it hooked up (the scantool is software based, and was not connected at that time). Voila! the Check Engine light was off. www.autoenginuity.com

Service engine soon light is on

The check engine light/service engine soon (yellow light) comes only when the computer control unit (called the PCM) senses a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system u will seldom feel the car engine run any different, there are about 200 possible faults that turn the light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.

2003 Mitsubishi Spyder Eclipse, green wrench/car lt, not running

that means it needs service. also probly means that something is either loose or broken wise. you were probobly receiving a service engine soon signal when you put the keys in the ignition and turn it one slot to where the car is running on battery so the radio should work. and thats where the idicators would of been going on. and you probobly didnt notice those
