Not always but most times, once i turn on the wipers they do not turn off. I either have to turn off the car while the wipers are near the bottom or stopping point or pull the fuse.
With the plastic cowl removed (wiper arm on driver's side at least has to be removed, you can get to the motor for removal. On the right side of the outer bracket you see (this is the driver's side wiper sweep mechanism, not the motor bracket). To take that out you remove a 10 mm nut under the right side of the bracket frame (the nut faces down). Be careful NOT to drop it or it will go down in the fender. I made that mistake and had to unbolt two fasteners under the car and flap the lower fender in and out a bit to make the nut fall out. Use a large flat head screw driver to unseat the sweep mechanism's ball from the white socket. When putting that back in you must seat it all the way back down, I used Vice Grips to do this.
There is a single bolt left holding the sweep mechanism on, remove it and pull the mechanism out toward you, tilting it down on the right side to free the captive bolt that the nut was fastened to.
The remaining bolt you see on the left holds the motor bracket, it has two square/rectangular rubber grommets on tabs that fit into the body so be mindful they have to go back in properly when you re-install the motor bracket. You have another ball & socket at the motor drive pawl to take off like you did the first one. Pull the motor frame out with wore still attached. Pull the orange locking tab straight out and then you can depress the black locking tab to release the electrical connector. Look at the area beneath the motor drive pawl (ball) and you will see a raised flat edge that is supposed to catch a small lever (about 1 inch long) when it comes around. This must be lined up so it actually catches the small lever. Sometimes this gets bent or worn so they don't meet. If you plug the motor back in, you can watch the mechanism turn when you run the wipers and you'll see the arm that is supposed to catch to make it stop. Adjust the frame portion rather then the arm. You can also lube the mechanism well with white lithium grease spray for good measure. If that is the problem it will now stop when you turn the wiper switch off. Installation is the reverse of removal.
