Try a different type of oil filter wrench, the type that fits on the top of the oil filter, like a wrench that fits on a nut. Be sure the filter is really clean too, any oil on it can make the wrench slip. When you put it back on put a but of oil around the seal so it doesn't get stuck again.

There is a leak coming from above the oil filter ......2000 chevy 5.3 truck . do you know what this part is called and how do i fix it?

You're probably talking about a leak from the oil filter housing. If it is leaking you'll need to replace it. Otherwise - check your oil filter and where it mates on the housing and make sure you have a good seal with no extra gasket material stuck in the way.

I have a 1992 chevy s10 pickup. At startup the oil filter comes off and all the oil runs out. any idea whats wrong.

the high pressure relief valve in the oil pump may be stuck. Be sure to use the correct weight oil (5 or 10w30) try it again, if it blows off, the valve is stuck, and disassembly may be required.

Chevy Silverado threw all the oil out around the oil filter. Changed the filter, but that wasn't the problem. What could be causing it to lose all the oil?

Take th oil filter off and make sure there is only one gasket sometimes the old one will stick there and the new ones cannot make a good seal

Oil pressure drops to 0 at idle

OOO not good sounds like some of the head gasket got stuck somewhere, or the gauge or sender is bad or got knocked around when repairing the head gasket. I would check that first. If that checks out will need to drop the pan to see if something got stuck in the pickup tube, might as well change the pump while you are there. Or worst case some thing wrong with gasket job impeading oil flow back to bottom of the engine. Was the oil and filter changed ?if so pull out filter and see if an chunks are stuck in it now. And change oil and filter again. Sorry that was out of order I had a long day
