I have a 2007 reg ford fiesta ST, its only done 18,000miles, and its not ragged!
When starting the car up you usually get the car started instantly with a loud rev (the rev counter goes up to 2500 revs when started and drops to 1000 revs when left running) this week, i found that the car seems sluggish and powerless when starting all though the car starts everytime-but that loud rev when starting up the car is not there and it starts and stays a 1000revs on the counter. The car is still in warranty and is going to ford garage monday, just wanted to get some ideas of what it could be, or if anyone has had the same issue brought up. i initially thought it could be the spark plugs, but for a car thats only done 18,000 miles i thought this couldnt be the issue!
hope someone could help!
I have a 1.8 escort which is much the same engine as st when you start them you do not give them throttle you just depress clutch and not touch throttle ,they have a cold start on them so by the sounds of it the cold start is faulty you have done the right thing take it to dealers and not let anybody touch it cause you could invalidate its warranty (my car when started revs go high but after it is started it sits about a thousand rpm)hope this helps you
Car
not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned. To
confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required. Click

yeah that would sound like the issue, because when I have driven the car home from work, then turn the enigine off, then start it up again, it starts normally how it should, because the engine is warm, but next morning it struggles because the engine is cold so that all makes sense.
Thank you very much ace1968, hopefully its sorted monday!
yeah that sounds exactly my problem, as when the engine has been running and i start the car up soon after i have turned it off, it starts up correctly,
Thank you for your help hopefully it will get sorted monday.
