seems to me the lamps are dim in the cluster, as in bad lamps.
the dimmer works, but can be tested, if 12vdc out on high.
the dimmer is good.
car drives perfectly, day and night, heater blower on high works.
all things on car seem to work, but just dash dimmer?
why do you need lamps in the day, not told..??? I don't
my cars never glow dash lamps (background) lamps in day
the other IP c luster lamps are ERROR lamps.
like ,(lots) CEL, charger fail,
all my error lamps are out, driving, as they must be.
so only background lamps are dim?
are outside of car PARK lamps all working?
DRL - day time running lamps , lets get this stright , When your daytime driving lights are on the dash lights go off . An it's daytime ? If it were night an the regular headlamps were on are the dash light's on then ? Becaused if the daytime running lamps are on an it's day time , why would the dash light's be on ? You wouldn't need the dash lights in day time light conditions . No problem !
Theres a sensor in the middle of the dash by the front windshield that detects sunlight and triggers the automatic headlights. The main headlights and daytime running lights might be on a different circuit, in which case they daytime running lamps would turn off at night and the main headlights would turn on, indicating the main headlights arent working and the daytime running lamps are working as intended.
I would check all the fuses related to headlights, check the bulbs and check the switch, then last the light sensor on the dash.
you have a short circuit somewhere in your dash cluster, when it heats up the wires probably soften and droop down contacting another wire and closing one or more lamp circuits. If you feel like taking the dash apart, get a wire location diagram and find the short, or take it to an automotive electrical shop.
check to make sure both low beams are not burnt out. it would not be the first time i have seen this.then you want to check relays if the light bulbs are good.
