Measure your oil pressure with an external gauge. The transducer (sending unit) has high failure rate, you may not actually be running low pressure.....
The oil pump either works or it doesn't, so it's not the problem. Check the wire connection at the pressure sending unit. The wire may be broken at the connector, or you may need to replace the sending unit.
