Corrosion of the bulb socket that holds the bulb in place. Try cleaning out any corrosion and use dielectric grease in the bulb socket. Do not use any other type of grease. If this does not work, you will have to buy new bulb sockets.
Access to the tail light cluster should be through panels in the rear corners of the vehicle. Remove the panel and you can remove the tail light cluster to replace the bulbs. This is the position on most sedans, unless, like on pick-ups, the tail light lenses have screws which allow the lenses to be removed to change the bulbs.
The noise you hear could very well be a lifter. But that is not what is causing your engine light to come on. The engine light problem can be diagnosed by having the codes read. once you pop the hood, there should be a cover behind the light housing that you twist to open the backing.. inside the housing will be a spring lever that secures the bulb down... unhook the spring and disconnect the harness connecting to the bulb...
hi from uk the number plate lights x2 are on same fuse as side+tail lights so if n/plate is not lit ?more likely bulbs have blown ? to access remove the panel from boot lid (clips+screws) then you will see rear of n/plate lights the bulb holders twist anti clock slightly and pull out replace bulbs with same type 5watt check all work b4 refitting panel
not sure which top tail light you mean? do you wish to replace bulb or actual lamp on the rear screen? this is the high level brake light ! OR do you wish to replace bulb in one of the rear tail lamps offside/nearside ? which ever ? the h/level brake light bulb is accessable for bulb from the rear panel on hatch behind lamp bulb is 16 watt capless push in type
