OBD2 "Link Error"

My 1998 Montana wouldn't start so I decided to check any computer codes first. When I ran my OBD2 scanner I got a "Link Error". So I tried
to get the scanner to read the codes again only to get the same thing.
Does any one know what causes a Link Error and how do I fix it.
I know my Montana has many electrical issues....more than what I'm willing to accept. But I'm willing to tackle it one at a time.
Need desperately some help here.

How to fix error code p1391 on 1998 jeep cherokee sport

did you erase the code? if code is not cleared it acst same way even if you installed a new sensor.

if not cleared, you can do either using obd2 scanner or you can just try to disconnect (-) of your battery for 15 minutes. it i will relearn every thing after 2 or 3 warm ups, and will start to idle ok.

Checking/changing sensors on 2004 toyota camry is a big job? What connection does it have with the computer?

Google OBDII or OBD2 is your first step.

OBDII scanner start at $50+

All 1996+ vehicle has OBD connector within 18" from the center of the dashboard.

It's a worthwhile investment on a better scanner that can do OBDII and CAN bus. The price is over $80+

If you are into automotive in the long ran then you should get OBDII and CAN bus scanner.

Some high end scanner can download collected error code and link it to a PC via USB or serial port.

This will allow you to look up the database for potential fix.

possible dirty/defective ABS wheel sensor, have the system checked with an OBD2 reader for error codes. It's free at autozone to have the ABS computer ran for the trouble code. Hopefully this helps!!

OBD2 Link Error comes on when scanner reads.

You may have the wrong code reader. Try another one and see what happens. It could also be a blown fuse, check all your fuses, in particular the one that controls the cigarette lighter.
