Check charging system keeps coming up on display lincoln ls 2002

About a week ago, while driving on the highway, the gauges went crazy, lights dimmed and went out, radio went out and the car died. Eventually got it jumped and drove back home. It acted up with gauges going crazy and stuff at over 50mph. The shop I took it to said they couldn't find anything wrong. No error codes came up. I bought a new battery. Shortly after my front drivers side window got stuck in the down position. Taking the door panel apart and trying to find the problem only led to it works when it wants and doesn't when it doesn't. It has since died while driving. The alarm and headlights have gone nuts by themselves. I'm getting the error codes "change ac filter", which has been on for a while, "check advanced track system", and the newest one "check charging system" (that came on when all of these problems started. The driver window was previously stuck down and may have gotten some water inside the door panel. I'm learning that's where the FEM is. Could this be the problem?

Low voltage can cause the type of erratic symptoms you describe.. see if the alternator is putting out 13 to 15 volts with engine running. any autoparts chain will do this for you gratis

Sounds like your window assembly has failed or the cable has broken. An easy repair, once the door panel is removed and the assembly disconnected from door.

Can you hear the window motor work? If positive, then you have a mechanical problem. Possibly the cable lifter is not installed properly. If motor is dead check fuse box.

SOURCE: 2000 lincoln ls-check engine light is on+other electrical problem

One at a time

  • Check engine light is tripped by the #2 02 sensor. If the cat converter fails to clean up excess emmisions it turns on the light
  • Seat won't move- Chk for an obstruction in the tracks.
  • The alarm system-Watch itand wait for it to go off to make sure nothing is disturbing it. If it is motion sensitive, the cooking fan coming on can or may do it because of voltage chages when it kicks on.
  • Battery - check the charging voltage at the battery-- should be between 13.6 to 14.2 at an idle. This, if not righ, can cause the battery to not charge deep enough and can affect yor alsrm system. The battery needs to be 90% up to par to keep any electronics stable. Check for a draw on the batteryby removing rthe ground cable and watching for a spark when you touch it to the post. If there is a spark, something is on and and it needs to be located. Chances are it's the alarm system.
If your battery isn't charging correctly or is defective, The condition will affect the discharge rate. being it has no seep charge to start with.

hi, the alternator has a wire from ignition to the alternator called the W L lamp. if this comes up the most common fault is the diode pack or comutator brushes. alternator not charging enough or WARNING LIGHT wire grounding to body of the car. some times the WARNING LIGHT wil be very dim all these usually means your alternator will need replacing. gerry

You have two pumps,I guess you know that ,if you already did one. Did you check fuel pressure at the rail and check out the electronic pressure regulator? What codes are coming up and do they stay set?

Same problem in my 2001 lincoln ls.

youre using more power during highway drives, therefore more vaccum. check your vaccum lines for leaks which may cause the vent door to close/or open which may be causing your problem. if your temp gauge shows the needle in the center of the gauge while driving on highway, your thermostat is fine. check vaccum.
