We changed the lifters and the timing chain tensioner. The tapping is when you first start and then it doesn't make any noise until the engine get warmed up.
Sounds like a weak oil pump, but that could be indicative of a worn engine, i would replace the oli pump first to rule it out.

Thanks for your help.
Yes, bought 16 new lifters from pelicanparts.com Funny thing was, When I removed the old lifters, somone had replaced 7 of them on the exhaust side with lifters that were not the same. So, car had 7 lifters in there that were not for that motor. I think Im going to take the valve cover off and see if the timing is off a bit. I saw someone (on the internet) laid a pencil across the square part of the cams to use as a reference to bring them in to TDC.
I just made a video so you can hear what is going on. Again, new lifters and new timing chain tensioiner.

richin.
I just made a video of the issue. Take a moment to listen to what im talking about. Do you think it could be a timing chain issue, or timing issue? Being that it is ok when engine is cold?
Thanks

Yes. That is what is going on. Can I replace this by removing the oil pan, or do I have to take off the front cover of the engine? Also, what do you think I should do with the sump? Could that be clogged?
Thank you for your help.
Before you go to all the trouble and expense of changing the pump, it's not that hard to put an oil pressure guage on the engine and monitor it during the whole meltdown. Go to any auto parts store and buy a $15. gauge set and put it into the oil pressure switch hole.
Did you use new lifters? Sorry, I had to ask :-) Was the timing chain changed, or has it been changed in the past, or were the indexing bolts ever loosened on the cam sprockets? Does the engine seem down on power a little?
The pistons will "tap" on the valves if the cam timing is out even just a little bit and I am kind of assuming you had to disturb it to change the lifters. As the pistons and rods heat up, they may be "growing" into valves that are out of time and making this noise. It is kind of tricky timing the cams on this engine, the marks can be deceiving.
