Car Surging When i get up to a steady speed between 40-50 MPH, my whole car pulls forward constantly. Similar to a speed boat going at a high speed on the water, its that motion. It only happens between 40-50 MPH and when i speed up, it stops. But when i come back to steady speed it starts jumping again. I have no idea what it is but its quite annoying. Please help me out with this, this car is such a good car, I just want a smooth and comfortable ride again.

Inspect and replace plugs and wires as necessary. Check for vacume hose leaks as well You can also run some injector cleaner through and be sure you are using the proper octane gasoline.

SOURCE: TOYOTA TAZZ KICK BACK...

It sounds like it is loosing spark somewhere on the ignition circuit. e.g HT leads, distributor cap, one or more spark plugs faulty. The above usually happens when the engine is taking more load than usual, like going up a hill and the r.p.m at about 1500 - 3000.Try it again in a lower gear 1st or 2nd with the motor r.p.m high, about 5000 revolutions per minute.

Did they "turn" your rotors? They may have "improperly" turned your front rotors. This is common and they should correct this where you had the work done.

SOURCE: 99 Camry idle was surging

Hi, vacuum leak at the intake manifold or vacuum hose can cause a high idle. On carbuerated vehicles the idle adjustment screw may be set to high. On fuel injected vehicles, the Idle Air Control(IAC) circuit or valve may be faulty. On newer vehicles you may be able to get a trouble code to help pinpoint the problem.

Caddy just started surging at road speed with throttle steady. Idles fine, and when you mash the gas performs fine, just surges and jerky at steady throttle about 40 to 55 mph.

Sea Foam will clean your engine - intake, injectors, combustion chamber, etc. "Hi Test" will not.

Higher octane fuel actually has higher resistance to exploding. High compression engines need higher octane to prevent 'pre-combustion' or detonation (explosion). Diesel engines do not have a spark plug and rely on diesel fuel detonating due to the very high compression (sometimes 2.5 times what you see in gasoline engines). When octane is not high enough, just the compression stroke will cause the gasoline to detonate on its own prior to the spark plug firing, causing pinging or knocking.

So, DON'T USE 'HI-TEST' gasoline to clean out your engine - it will NOT perform that function for you!!!

Why does my car have a surging when going down the road at any speed? Electrical?

it is possible that it will be the cause of the problem. Clean the terminal and the connected wires by placing them in a container of hot solution of carbonated soda ( baking powder). This will neutralize the sulphuric acid corrosion. Was with clean water when reaction has stopped. Cover terminals with vaseliene ( CRC terminal spray wax is best) make sure all connections are tight.
Also have the fault codes read to check for ather sensor problems.

1995 oldsmobile- car makes a surging or jerking at 45 mph

That is the speed when it would normally shift into overdrive or the torque converter would go into lockup.
It is also when the engine would be working hard and a slight miss could be magnified.
You may want to have a transmission shop test drive it for their opinion.
