SOURCE: 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L oil pressure gauge reading too high

if the gauge starts a 0 - goes to 1/2 , than full - sounds like gauge is OK - seems to me like the sending unit is bad - you could try removing the sender and trying to clean out the port with "brake clean", letting it dry than re-installing it. the pressure switch is still the least expensive place to start

SOURCE: What causes the oil pressure gauge to fluctuate on

If the oil pressure is good and there is no engine noises then the oil pressure sending unit is the problem.Just replace it and you should be good.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Run a fuel pressure gauge where you can watch it while you drive and see if you are loosing fuel pressure. Also make sure you do not have a restricted exhaust system.

Your Jeep has what's known as the delayed start, no check engine light problem. The Jeep will not start until the check engine light comes on, on the dashboard. Next time it cranks but will not start, look at the dashboard to see if the check engine light is illuminated. If it's not lit up, then your Jeep does have that problem and your Jeep ecu is in need of repair or replacement. There are components inside the ecu that are going bad and will continue to get worse, eventually leading to a permanent no start condition. There are ecu repair services and replacement ecus on ebay.

1996 jeep grand cherokee oil pressure gauge flutters car wont run

If the oil pressure is not above 5 or 10psi, the fuel pump will not get power. The engine should start and die.
The pressure sending unit may be faulty, or the engine oil pressure may be very low.

The first thing i would check is the fuel system hook a fuel pressure gauge up to the fuel rail and check the fuel pressure, after you have verified the fuel pressure is good let the gauge sit and monitor how much "bleed down" occurs if the bleed down is out of spec i would bet the fuel pressure regulator is bad or theres a leaking fuel injector causing fuel to drip into 1 or more of the cylinders causing a rich condition at startup.

My check gauge light came on and next day 1996 jeep grand cherokee would crank but didn't start.

I know this is the obvious question, does it have fuel? Usually Check Gauges is for Low Fuel, Low Oil Pressure , and such. Hope this helps

Jeep will crank but wont start also fuel guage not working

Will it try to start if you spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body? If so you need to check fuel pressure and if low, power to the fuel pump while cranking, the gauge not working could be a seperate issue. Could it be that the car is out of gas since the gauge doesn't work? Just asking. If so you may just need a sending unit. If you end up needing a fuel pump, you'll get a sender with it. I've never seen a sender and a pump go out at the exact same time, the use two different circuit's. The ECM really doesn't have any thing to do with the fuel gauge on this car.
