It is a beautiful 91 C1500 short bed, loaded. Doing all service it needs to go another 100 K. It has 180K on it know. Runs and drives perfect!! Should I replace spark module or any other ignition type modules?
Not sure here i but i think replacing the whole vehicle with a newer small engined diesel to reduce your carbon footprint might possibly be a better option, the price of fuel will only keep going up and come on a 5.7 litre engine is becoming obnoxious and even more so as because its so old its not engineered to modern emmision standards ,
iam jealous sorry

well its what comes of living in europe iam afraid its rammed down our throats to be green ,sorry i cannot help about this motor as no pratical experiance but i do wish you luck here though as one day motors like this will become iconic no doubt about that but please do keep this vehicle for posterity but do consider a small diesel pick up for everyday work and this gas monster for the sunday day out ,just like i do with my 4.0 litre jag XJ6 which comes out for weddings and a monthly meet with jag owners club members .Have you tried tighteneing the sump bolts a little though as with a cork gasket as fitted on older motors often only need a little nip ,the main oil leaks under a motor are a rear end oil seal or look carefully for a leak around the cylinder head gasket as the oil feed through the head to the cams can and does start to leak when the head gasket starts to get old and fail .
Obviously Im a american muscle motor lover. Main reason I dont drive a smaller truck is Ive been a collision tech for 30 years and believe in the safety and more productive use of a full size strong motor american made truck. Thanks for your coments as for as a possible oil leak. Rear seal was changed at 80K. Just did all valve seals, new distributor , and a couple necessary modules. Allways had a pan leak since new, never changed. The leak is definately the pan. My question was, do I have to motor to pull the pan? its 2wd and the crossmember is real close. No bigs though, Im gonna pull the 2 mount boults and jack it a couple inchches anyways.Just a body tech doin a mechanics job, got allot of time on my hands. AND,If it wasnt for gas gusling hawgs like the old motor, where would the Corvette Camaro, and Mustangs be??
Sorry as stated i have no practical experiance so iam about as much use here as a priest in a condom factory on this ,but some vehicles i have managed to lift the engine up enough by undoing the engine mounts and jacking up the engine on the front pulley with a bit of wood between the pulley and jack ,bottle jack being ideal for this .Well boss its sunday today 0800 in the morning and here in spain ,alicante to be precise on the med coast its going to be a scorcher so its jag out of garage and a quick leather down for a run to a sunday market to keep er indoors happy.Next sunday its the jaguars owners meeting with a run out inland .WWW.jag.org.uk then look in the overseas meetings ,you might even see me in one of the pics ,horrible sight i must say ?me with clean hands .Just recovered the headlineing for the old jag so that can be fitted before next week but today ? er indoors has to visit a market .If you get the oportunity watch the europeon V8 super cars ,why well watch and learn these american muscle cars are entered but never even get close at the finish as although fast and built for american roads ? well as we all know american roads are straight ,europeon roads -- well more bends than enough so a mustang chasing a ferarri around a italian backwater road or a scotish highland route ,follow my drift .My everyday ride for work is a ford escort diesel with no paint left owing to the high UV here in alicante all cars peel with sunburn after about 4/5 years here so no one bothers a lot about it .But my jag ? well its in a garage with sheets over it which i will now uncover and rake the pennies to afford some petrol .

You should be able to drop the front drive and pull the starter you should be able to drop the oil-pan without to much trouble

I'm kinda confused. At least on a 1990 it will be under the engine behind the cooler fan. It's kind of in an akward position. If you're replacing the whole module, you should lift the car and access it from underneath to make it easier. Also, keep in mind you wil need to remove your ignition coils since the are on the module. Take note of which cable goes where to avoid later issues
