THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE ASKED WHERE IS THE ENGINE NUMBER LOCATED ON A 1967 MUSTANG COUPE WITH A 289 V8 ENGINE. THE FIRST ANSWER I RECEIVED WAS ABOUT SPARK PLUG WIRING WHICH WAS NOT WHAT I ASKED. THE SECOND ANSWER I RECEIVED WAS WHERE THE TEMP SENSOR IS SITUATED ON A LATER MODEL MUSTANG WHICH IS AGAIN NOT THE QUESTION I ASKED.

hesitating when from a standing start, then running well can be caused by having too big a jet size. I dropped the size of the jets on my Holley 4V, and it solved that part of the problem. The accelerator pump will push in too much gas, momentarily "drowning"the engine til you get enuff air to mix with the gas.

Most likely does not have wires. It should have coil packs on the plugs. If it does have wires, should be the 1st cylinder on the drivers side of the engine in a V6, rear cylinder on passenger side of the V8.

Try this. If the distributor is in the right way, the clips that hold the cap on should be just a hair off of 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. #1 is positioned at 1 o'clock, which is at the firewall side of the distributor. The firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8and is counterclockwise from #1. The passenger's side is cylinders 1-2-3-4, from the front of the car. The driver's side is 5-6-7-8 from the front. Hope this will help.

It sounds like it might be runnig lean on fuel. How old is the fuel filter. Lack of fuel will cause this. Ford needs about 40 psi of pressure to run well. So it runs a lot of fuel thru the filter. It should be changed at least every 30,000 ?
