The brake pad warning light is controlled by a sensor located in the front and rear brake pads, small contact with 2 wires that plud into a harness, if they are bad I think the replacement cost is around 5-10 dollars for a new one, there will only be one in the front and one in the rear, the service light is turned out by a special tool at the dealer

I replace the brake pads front and rear on my BMW x3 2005, but the warning light on the dash still on, how can i get this taken care

Depending on what warning is on... if it's stating brake sensor then one has come loose or cable got pinched when re-installing. If it's ABS light that needs to be reset w/reset tool.

How to reset 2006 BMW 5-series brake pad light on BMW

Firstly ( assuming you have replaced the brake pads) you MUST replace the wear sensor with a new one. Lower drivers window, With door closed, lean thro open window and put ignition on without starting, leave for 15 minutes minimum, switch off, then start car. If this fails and you are unable to cancel warning via I drive button, then an appropriate scan tool will be required.

ABS and ASC warning lights stay on 2000 530d

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

2004 x3 rear brake pad replacement diy

You Can probably accomplish this yourself if you have a brake pad warning light or ABS/ASC light on you may need a BMW tech to reset the system to complete the job.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

I dunno if this will work on your BMW, but on my BMW Z3 and M3, it was....

Turn the ignition key to position 2, but do NOT start the car. Wait for about 45 seconds and the brake warning message will be reset.

If it doesn't reset, then the brake sensor was damage. You will need to replace the brake sensor. It sounds like you replace the brake right after you saw the warning, so the brake sensor should be okay.
