It appears that you have a bad intermittent connection and those are hard to fix because most of the time, like when you want to work on it, everything is fine! But yes, check the wiring and the switches involved in affected circuits you described.
If there is not a panal located beside key switch you will need to remove the steering wheel and go in that way...sometimes can be a bit of a job...there is a set screw holding the switch in place and can only be removed from inside steering colume,,.....hope this helps and good luck...Please rate this post..
Ok lest star by checking your brake ligths, are they working? , check your fuses if theryre not, if your fuse is bad also check all your bulbs if one is shorted to ground will blow the fuse again, if all bulbs are in good shape, then check the brake lite indicator box(located in left upper side off trunk is a litlle square box, yellow most of times) take a litle screw driver and open it if is burmed must be replace, hope this help .
replace the electric ignition on steering colum shorting out in side will get worse or quit woking at some point may have to replace light switch too do to damage of over heat.....
you have to take steering column/cover apart to disassemble the unit. once you have the steering cover apart, follow the wires to locate the plug. unplug the old headlight switch and plug in the new one. no need to take steering off, very easy to do.
The collector ring under the steering wheel is not making connection. Did you lose a brush when you put the steering wheel back on. Try cleaning the collector ring with steel wool.
