If you are getting spark then it may be a fuel pump problem or fuel pump relay or inline fuse. Always start Fuel system troubleshooting by replacing the fuel filter or filters! You may be able to apply 12 volts from the battery (use a fused line) directly to the 12 volt side of the fuel pump and listen to see if the pump runs. Also may need to check that it is getting a good ground to the fuel pump. Then if the fuel pump does not run independently, replace the fuel pump. The fuel pump relay is computer controlled and several other things give the computer inputs which then controls the voltage to the fuel pump relay.

First thing unhook positive battery cable, unhook main cable on starter selanoid and small wire on selanoid (there may be 2 small wires) There may be a bracket on front of starter that has to be removed, and then the 2 main bolts that hold it to engine block and it should come out.

check to see if you have your plug wires at the right location on distributor cap. If you don't have a digram they are as follows- right side 1, 3, 5 front to rear. Left side is 2,4,6 front to rear. #1 should be on the location at front of cap closest to intake manifold. firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6. Hope this helps. KS

Remove the cap and mark the rotor to the distributor housing so you reinstall it in the same place.Remove the rotor from distributor and put it on a vise.On the bottom where the gear is you will see a roll pin.Use a punch and hammer and remove it.Spray some carb cleaner and spray it down the shaft and twist and turn the shaft while pulling up on the shaft. This will make it easier to come off.You might have to keep adding carb cleaner til it comes out. Then install the new shaft, gear, and roll pin. Then reinstall the distributor and align it to your mark.Good luck.

Here is the firing order diagram for the 5.0 liter (305), 5.7 liter (350) and the 7.4 liter (454) V-8 engines (note position of locking latches/screws between the 3 and 6 and the 1 and 2 terminals on the distributor cap). Let me know if you need the 4.3 liter V-6 engine diagram (hopefully not in a 2500 series truck) or if you require any further assistance.
