Towing Jeep Cherokee

your jeep grand cherokee has a max. towing capacity of 3500 kgs with a tow ball load limit of 350 kgs
the jeep GC diesel tow group tow group includes a trailer sway control ( stabilizer bars or sway bars ) to detect and control excessive trailer sway

no drive line options stated, what engine and trans?
the cars data sheet covers all that. 2011?
i dont know what towing option they had in 2011.
just hitch or other things,
mostly capacity is a function of car weight and power and transmissions ability not not overload or over heat.
up to 5000 lbs, as it says , adequately equipped,(drive train)
type of hitch and tires,
all are factors.
why not ask jeep this, they look and see what you have
then ask you what you want to tow.

The Jeep Liberty's towing capacity without the towing package is 2000 pounds. With the towing package, it's 3500 pounds. With the towing package and a weight distribution hitch, it's 5000 pounds. You will get down the road hauling 5000 pounds (don't try to go over any mountain passes), but your engine and transmission will pay the price. Mostly what the towing package gives you is an upgraded engine and transmission cooling system.

Yes, because it will turn the transmission while you are towing. The problem is that the trans will not be getting any lubrication while it turns. Hope this helps.

you can use the oil for the towing package in either rear end, but what they want to know is if the rear end is posi track. to find out jack up the back of the jeep put the transmission in neutral and turn one of the rear wheel if the wheel on the other side turns in the same direction that you are turning the wheel then you have posi track if the wheel on the other side turns backwards the you don't. but like i said you can use the towing oil in either rear end when in dought use the towing oil.

provided its just a base model (not 4wd) you could tow a load up to 3000 pounds (small boats, utility trailer with riding mower etc.) without adding excessive strain on motor/transmission easily enough. Just make sure your hitch is rated for whatever you intend to tow class1-3

Towing capacity depends upon trailer design and actual tongue weight of the trailer and load. It also depends upon the condition of your rear suspension, engine size, the condition of your cooling system and if you have an add-on transmission cooler. (for automatics). Last, capacity is also determined by the hitch rating. Generally speaking, you should be able to pull around 5,000 lbs without problems.
If towing long distances or up steep grades it is wise to change the transmission and differential fluid before towing and service those more frequently than normal.

you may have a cracked flexplate , this bolts the torque
convertor to the motor , or the bolts are loose.
