No air or heat blowing from vents

1999 volvo s80 2.9 bought from private seller. air and heat do not blow from vents. mechanic (not volvo dealership) says blower and fan and fuses are fine. he said it may be the climate control panel. bought a used panel and installed it but same problem. could there be something else wrong with the air and heat? when i turn the heat on i can feel the vents getting warm but it doesn't blow.

If the fan is blowing this could be a problem with the climate controll switch that changes the direction of air from floor to defrost to vents, some are vacuum controlled through a vacuum operated mechanism that opens and closes a door in the vents which redirects the air to different places.

Are you sure the controls you bought is good? Only a few things it can be. Control panel, Blower fan, and fuse. One of those are the problem. Cauld use a jumper wire to send power to the fan and see if fan cmes on. If it does then the fan is indeed good, then go and check and make sure power is on both sides of the fuse. then check the panel. could be bad. Panel sends signal to turn fan on and off. Good luck if need further help let me know, i will try to help ya. I am all about saving money.

WHAT IS A BLEND DOOR?

Hi Don'a, here is a temporary solution; until the linkage is replaced. Make sure your heater is in dual mode and not turned up all the way. Then only use the face setting and close the driver vents. This will allow heat to circulate and not blow cold air onto the driver. If you use the floor setting or the defrost setting then the driverside takes over and it blows cold air. Good luck. In the mean time look at some of the other posts about this issue for part #. And if you have a mechanic that can work on it, he will probably be cheaper than the dealership.

I have a 1999 VW Passat. No heat blows from the floor vents or the rear passenger vent. The heat from the dash blows strong and hot with no problem. What could be the problem and could i make the repair...

These vehicles where prone to heater core failure. It lives in center of dash against the fire wall.

When this repair is done at the dealership, the tech is paid only 6 hours. The job takes 10 to 12 hours.

So, what does he do?.....he doesn't put everything he took out back again, which on this job would be the ducts that are along side the 'transmission tunnel' to the rear vent.

Ergo = No rear heat .

On the other hand, it could be the system is stuck in Default..'Windscreen vent priority'.

Vent/heat/defrost broken Volvo 760

I have the same car and had the same problem. The inside air intake for the heater system is located above the passenger's feet. An empty plastic bag got sucked in there and kept the door from moving properly. I had to take off a few panels, then one on the vent. Once I removed the bag, no problem.

Electronic vent control not working in Volvo S40

Hi,
I think here, by your description, that there might be something that has slipped inside the vent holes from outside. you can try to blow some compressed air through the vent holes at the bottom of the windscreen.
Otherwise you can try to look under the dash, activate the switch and see if you can locate from where the noise is coming and see if you can reach the mechanism that control the vent. Normally it must be moving free. Otherwise your local mechanic should be able to fix that ufor you.
Cheers.

1999 Ltd. The right vents blow hot air but left vents blow cold

Yes go to you have to get the codes from your ATC controls first...Hold down the A/C button and the Recirculating button at the same time and while holding the two buttons turn you left temp. control up. It should give you codes if not then it will just read 00. Once you get those find out what they mean...20, 46,52,or 54 means you blend door(s) are stuck down and have to come up to allow heat to flow. Go to www.heatertreater.net and it will tell you how to replace it or in my case I just fixed it by putting a screw in it to hold the doors up....But hey i'm cheap so i like quick fixer uppers!!! Try that and lemme know if it works...
