SOURCE: 2003 Explorer door ajar light stay on when all doors are closed

I had this problem on my 2003 explorer and took WD40 and gave the lock mechanism a good dose where it meets the clasp on the door jam. Then open and close the doors a couple of times to get them working. They get gummed up and sometimes have a tendency to stick.

SOURCE: my door ajar light stays

Hi

there are small pin switches in the door, when the door pushes up againsit it in the closed position the pin switch goes in and turns the light off, if defective then they can stick internally causing this fayult, also there are 2 wires behind them that can corrode and start to decay, normally only one or 2 screws to remove the switches spray with wd40 any other faults would be obvious once you have removed it. there is one on each door including the boot although the boot / trunk will normally be seperate.

Hope this helps

Regards

Dan

p.s do you need any pictures ??

How do I stop the door ajar sound from randomly going off while driving down the road in my 2003 Ford explorer?

The switch that turns the interior lights on when you open the door also controls the door ajar sound and light on dash board now that switch
Is either in the door hing or it's a pin switch that sticks out of the pillar post that switch is going bad you have to locate it and replace it hope this helped

Door Lock - Check ground connections and test switch.

Dorr ajar light is on

this problem is caused by a sticking door ajar sensing micro switch inside the door on the door latch, it is a twist in switch, in your car there are 4 switches, one for each side door and 2 for the hatch, since replacing them is labor intensive have the local Ford dealer scan the system, the scanner can see which particular switch is causing the light to stay on.

Door ajar button stays on and makes a beeping noise

You will need to spray each door latch including the rear hatch liberally with WD 40 or spray lubricant on the latch and open and close each door several times after spraying. This will usually be sufficient to get the door sensors to detect when you have closed the doors. If this doesn't do it, it will hep to figure out which door is intermittently causing the door ajar light to stay on.

My door ajar light flashes and causes my alarm to go off all times .abs light is on.

the door ajar light is caused by defective door ajar switch or switches, there are 6 of them and anyone can cause the problem, The Ford dealer has a scanner (called an NGS) that can read what switch is causing the problem, the switches are inside the door attached to the door latch assemlby, a real pain for a professional to replace, done 100's. The ABS is also one of many problems, once again the dealer can scan the system for the paticular part that is defecive, which most likely will be a wheel speed sensor, there is one at each wheel.
