The gearbox do not change to last level / shift. it maeans 1 is ok, 2 is ok, 3 is okay but the last not enter and force the car at 80km/h at 3500 rotation. What can be the problem? the diesel consumption is high and force the engine. I am desesperated.

Does it have an automatic transmission? Without bolting up the torque converter, but after mounting the transmission to the engine, can you rotate the torque converter? (If the torque converter rotates, you can bolt it up AFTER the transmission is mounted.) If not, your torque converter is not fully seated into the pump in the transmission. Be aware that you may have already damaged the pump if this is the case.

Crunching when changing gears on a pajero

check the oil level of the gearbox, if level is low or oil is too thin will cause it to crunch. put an 80w90 gear oil into it if needs fill or change/ also check the clutch is fully disengaged. maybe clutch hydraulics have air in the system, this will reduce the travel of the clutch fork and not fully disengage the clutch. to see if its the clutch hydraulics select 1st gear push in the clutch and start the engine, if it starts to creep forward check out the hydraulics. if all this ok, prob be the synchro rings internal in the gearbox

an adaptor plate will be the solution to issue, google ( make of engine)+ adaptor plates. and you may find that an ad for supplier. holden engines are pretty common for conversions and their are plenty of engineering places that make adaptors.

Hi All

Does the engine turn over when you turn the key, if it doesnt it is the automatic park/neutral switch on the gearbox. This gets hot and the contacts seperate and no go.
Remove the gearbox switch, pull apart and clean, when putting back together, put a bead of silicon across the joint and put back. It will keep running for ages.
