Fold down the rear seat and crawl to the back...there is a latch inside at the center of the trunk lid to open. All newer cars are mandated to have the inside release to prevent children from locking themselves in the trunk
I have the same problem with my trunk but the solution for me to open it until i get it fixed is have someone press the truck level then press on the truck you will hear the click when it is open..

You can trash the trunk lock or removing the back seat to see if it opens into the trunk.
And if you cannot open the trunk lock with a key you better consider getting a new lock and key combo.
If the key will not open it . Then the trunk lock will need replacing. If nothing opens it then it appears to be faulty.Otherwise atleast the key when all else fails should open it.Provided you have the right key and not one that does not go to your car.
If back seats fold down like my 2003 Impala, you should be able to access trunk through back seat. There is an emergency release in the trunk to open trunk lid
Does it open with the key? Is it binding or sticking in some way? Did the dealer actually check it out or did just tell that was the probably the problem. Do you hear the actuator clicking like it's trying to open? If you don't hear the actuator you may want to check the fuse, the owners manual will tell you which fuse it is. Also, I'm pretty sure the trunk won't open from the drivers seat unless the vehicle is in park,
i have a 2005 chevy malibu and i close the trunk with the keys inside and the little button on the door is stock but the car is open is and other way to open the trunk from inside of the car?
you have a fuse for it ,check the fuse box ,it might not say trunk on fuse panel, you might need to pull those fuses out one by one checking each one to see if blown, if the center between the two sides are broke the fuse is blown, hope this helps you, thanks robert b.
MY 06 Impala tunk would not open using my key fob, or the trunk button on my car . IF you own this vehicle you know that there is no manual keyhole on the trunk. I had to remove my back seat . It is held on by two bolts. In the trunk on the trunk lid is an emergency release handle. Once the trunk is open you need to remove the lock mechanism. Take a test lightand check the wire harness. If you are getting power to the harness and the lock still does not work, you need to replace it. GM wanted 189 for a new lock mechanism, i went to a auto scrap yard. they didnt have an 06 impala, but they did have an 06 malibu. they use the same lock system.the wire connectors for the harnesses look different but it fits fine. the only drawback is my convenience light in my trunk does not work when the trunk is open. only cost 15 bucks for the part.
