The error code 1131 means the air/fuel mixture is too lean on Bank-1 while 1151 indicated mixture is lean on Bank-2. You can check for the causes of the problem in following link for both error codes (1131 as well as 1151):

Both appear to be a lean mixture problem according to my research. Have you run some injector cleaner through it by any chance? What about coolant level, is it staying up, pressure tested, just in case coolant is mixing with fuel via, head or intake gasket leak, and leaning out the mixture. Low fuel pressure will cause lean mixture in some cases, test it or at least change filter if not done recently, or both. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: I have a 1997 Ford Explorer. Check engine light

Here is a list of possible causes, hope this helps.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

Possible Causes onepx.gif Setting Conditions onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif

  • Air leaks after the MAF sensor, or leaks in the PCV system
  • Vehicle running out of fuel or engine oil dip stick not seated
  • EGR valve gasket is damaged or leaking around the gasket
  • Exhaust leaks before or near where the HO2S is mounted
  • Fuel injector(s) not supplying enough fuel
  • Fuel system not supplying enough fuel during high fuel demand conditions (e.g., the fuel pump may not supply enough fuel)
  • MAF sensor is dirty (can cause PCM to underestimate airflow)
  • Intake gasket leak

SOURCE: 2001 ford explorer sport, door keypad reset

How to find the Security Keyless Keypad Code on the 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or Mountaineer and how to use the Keypad functions. The factory code is also printed on a label which is installed on the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) Module. This is the module that controls the keyless entry system. It is located in the left rear quarter behind the removable panel (see photo). You will need to turn the two thumb screws counter clockwise and take the plastic panel off to be able to see the unit. A flashlight may be helpful in seeing the code. You are looking for the module and the 5 digit code on it like the one shown below.

Now that you’ve got the code I’ll tell you how to use the Keyless entry and set-up your own code.Make sure when pressing the controls on the keyless entry keypad you press the middle of the buttons to ensure good contact with the controls.

2001 ford explorer sport will start but won't idle

Most likely there is a vacuum leak somewhere, check all small hoses and plastic "T" fittings for cracks or breaks, could be a vacuum line to the heater control, power brake booster also, listen for hissing noise @ startup. Happy hunting.

Check for vacuum leaks.

Have someone feather the gas pedal while you listen carefully to the engine. If the leak is bad enough you'll probable hear it.
More than likely, it's either a vacuum hose or the o-rings under the intake manifold.

Hope this helps!
