Replacing brakes and resurfacing rotors

How can we get help to get the hubs removed . I would appreciate some detailed info.

    I do appreciate the help and the awesome answer to my question. I just wasn't clear enough with the 1991 f-250 truck I have. Ihave a 4 wheel drive and not a 2 wheel drive truck Thanks. I would appreciate the help for my 4 wheel drive truck. I need to remove the hubs to re-surface the rotors. Can I get the help I am seeking, detailed please.

Front rotors on a 2 wheel drive means you have to take out bearings and all, it is recomended that you replace the bearings and races because they will have to be removed to turn the rotors might add 30 bucks to the total , you should check around because some rotors are cheap enough to replace instead of turning them. You can re-use the bearings as long as you are careful not to damage the races
Remove the brakes, caliper and caliper braket, remove center dust cap, remove cotterkey and spindel nut, pull rotor off you might need to give it a whack with a deadblow hammer to get it off of the seal in the back, front bearing should fall out in your hand ,with the rotor off gently pry the rear grease seal out (have a new one on hand they damage easy) remove rear bearing. Clean all the grease out of the rotor center so you can see what you are doing, once cleaned with the front of the rotor on the table you should see some notches at the bottom race,this is where you will place your punch to remove the race, flip the rotor over and do the same to remove the other race. Borrow or rent the proper tool to put the races back in, they have to go in straight and you will probably damage the races putting them back in with a punch. When you put it all back together remember to re grease everything. Do not over tighten the spindle nut when putting the rotor back on,tighten it enough to take out any play then tighten it just enough to line up the holes for the cotterkey. Then take it to a mechanic and get the bearing runout checked and set.then put your brakes back on

Did you say resurfacing?If you did resurface the rotors they will become out of parallel (warp) easier as they are now thinner.
.Are you using a #1 quality rotor or a slag steel (china) type?
The front brakes take a lot of heat and the only rotor placed on the front should be a premium #1 quality steel rotor and will cost at least $100 each.
I would check the hub surfaces for run out,install a QUALITY set of rotors,not just a cheap set that say premium on the box and I would also make sure the tires are dynamically balanced.
Then drive away with smooth braking that lasts.
With any shake in the brakes don't forget whats happening in the rear also.

What would make the car pulsate when breaking while the brakes and rotors appear good.

Normally this is caused by uneven rotors or drums, replacing brakes and not resurfacing drums

or rotors, or replacing drums or rotors, old brake fluid in system, not flushing out lines, dirty

brake fluid causing brake calipers to hang-up. inproperly installed brakes, not torqueing down

the bolts, loose bolts. good luck!

Is it required to machine hubs when replacing brake pads

YES. you should have the rotors checked for wear and thickness before fitting new pads. If the rotor surface is work, cracked or badly deformed, replace the rotors. It would be best to have the rotors inspected by a professional workshop and machined if needed. Doing this will save you money and hassles in the future..

MOST DO IT YOURSELF BOOKS EXPLAIN THE BRAKE PAD REMOVAL. WHEN THE CALIPER IS OFF THE ROTOR IS HELD ON BY TWO PHILLIPS SCREWS TO KEEP THINGS "TOGETHER" ON THE HUB. IT MAY ALSO BE TIGHT TO THE HUB, BUT IT WILL COME OFF.
ALWAYS REPLACE WITH NEW ROTORS SINCE MOST OF THE WORK IS DONE BY THE FRONT (DISK) BRAKES. SHOPS LIKE TO "TURN" OR RESURFACE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE MACHINE PAID FOR AND CAN CHARGE YOU THE PRICE OF NEW ROTORS AT A PARTS STORE FOR A LITTLE LABOR.

Front brake shimmy

I would try replacing the rotors altogether.If after resurfacing them your getting .010 runout on them in a few days, those rotors are getting soft.
Also, check the rotor mating surfaces, ie, where the rotor touches the hub when installed, and make sure it is clean and smooth. Any rust or brake dust buildup on the hub will prevent the rotor from sitting flush to the hub. I would also recommend replacing the brake pads, if you do the rotors, as the pads could have worn unevenly due to the rotors being warped.

Interesting!... What/Where did you hear about 'factory bolts shearing" I've done some research and have found NOTHING with regard to this. The rear brake service procedure is no different than the front (except, you must release the emergency brake in order to remove the rear rotors). I don't understand your concern. I sincerely hope you are resurfacing (remachining) rotors and replacing pads. It's important rotors be remachined (resurfaced) when replacing pads... if not, rotors can overheat and wear out faster than their normal lifetime.

Removing front rotors!!!

can't remove them from axle, the brake rotors are resurfaced by a portable machine that rolls up under the truck to get to the rotors, axle and rotor are one piece!
