On the Chevy key fob, press and hold the "Unlock" and "Lock" buttons at the same time until you hear the door lock and unlock again. This means you're all set. Re-insert the programmed key back into the ignition to the "On" position to finish the Chevy key fob programming process

on my 08 (for example) :
can program it to only open drivers door. or all.
and autolock feature off or on.
on my other car all was worked fine. then drives door failed
to open (all 3 fobs fail, one is new) the door solenoid was bad.
$100 part. now fixed, by me.

i have 4 fobs for my jeep now. you must have 2 good keys.
to make a 3rd by self.
so keep 2 , never ever used. to be self sufficient.
this is not a door issue, above 3 lines, its a not getting stranded issue.
get two new fob e-bay is cheap or dealer cycle key from off to run NOT CRANK JUST TILL LIGHT COME ON . do that 8 times you door lock will lock then unlock this is key fob reprograming mode press unlock on fob door lock will cycle up and down then press unlock on other fob door lock will cycle again now start truck and shut off. test each fob.
when you reprogram the new fobs the other ones will not work
Walk out to the vehicle with a new battery in the key fob and press the lock AND unlock button at the same time while you stand close to the vehicle for 7 seconds. You will hear the doors go thru a lock and unlock cycle, your fob is now programmed. This will sync existing programmed controllers, security sync. to program new remotes:In the trunk, connected to the wireless remote controller (driver side on wheel well, need to remove 'mat') is an empty connector with 2 wires connected. short the two connector pins. The locks will all cycle. Press and hold lock/unlock buttons on remote until locks cycle on/off. repeat for other remotes. Remove short across connector pins. Test new remote(s).Warning:existing remotes are deprogrammed, only remotes programmed will work from now on.This worked on my 1998 Cavalier. Be sure battries in new remote(s) are good! Answer Locate the data link connector under the dash (under the steering column). Ground out pin #8 of the DLC (top right port) with a jumper wire to any piece of metal close by (I use the e brake hardware). The door locks will then lock & unlock to let you know you are in the programming mode. Simultaneously press & hold the lock & unlock button on one of the keyless entries until the locks cycle (this lets you know the transmitter has been programmed). Repeat this step for your second transmitter. You must reprogram the 2nd transmitter within 60 seconds of programming the 1st one or you have to start over. Note
Take the key apart, replace the battery. The car needs to relearn the key, so stick it in the ignition, turn the car to the "on" setting without starting, press the unlock button on the fob. Thats it!
i would say the theft module saw the door trying to be open without the door lock or fob first, once the door lock button was pushed it shut down, it new doors were trying to be unlocked in a theft manner, once shut down it needs time to reset or needs to see ignition cycle with key and read chip in key, smart system isnt it, good luck.
