Locked keys trunk

You have listed the vehicle is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. The trunk is not electronic and only unlocks with the key as well as both the gas doors. Any issues here then it is your key or the actual trunk latch. If you do have a 1988 model year then the trunk lock has 3 positions. locked all the time, unlocked all the time or the vertical position locks and unlocks with the vehicles drivers door lock. If the trunk button (paddle) is loose and moves but nothing happens then the inside rod has come loose and you will have to manually operate the latch by removing the license plate and taking a long screw driver through the lower plastic bungs. The fuel flap is a separate unite and does have a manual release but you need to open the trunk to get to it. If the fuel flap stays locked all the time then the actually filler neck module will need replacing.If you have a 1997 which has the electronic release button to open the trunk (95-2003) Then you will need to firstly lock all door and unlock the drivers door 2 times. Check the fuel flap is now released, if not then the fuel flap actuator located on the filler neck inside the trunk is bad. If the trunk does not open with the remote, inside car switch and trunk mounted switch then the passenger side trunk harness is broken. Open the trunk with the key and on the right(passenger) hinge there is a grey plastic cover, remove that cover and carefully peel back the wiring harness cover and you will find 1 or more broken wires. Once the wires are repaired then I recommend you zip tie them in place and retest the trunk release button.If this does not answer any of your questions please feel free to email [email protected]

3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced

Most newer cars have a provision to pop the trunk from the inside. Look for a glow-in-the-dark handle that will release the trunk.
If your car has a remote trunk release, perhaps the cable is broken or stuck. You could try using a spray lubricant at both ends to free up sticky parts.

If you car is not equipped with a release and only opens by using a key, you may be able to remove the entire lock assembly from the inside. From inside the trunk, pull back the carpeting and reveal the bolts holding the latch to the bodywork. My guess is that you will find 2-3 bolts, 10-12mm in size. The latch will remain secured to the trunk lid, but at least it will be open!

The key lock mechanism may not be working or connected.
Or, the power door lock, if equipped, may not have power to the solenoid that releases the trunk, or the cable to the release is broken or not adjusted correctly.

this trunk is designed that there a position of the trunk lock that locks that inside handle,some car also use a lever at the latch to disable the inside trunk release,im 1 sure this car uses the trunk lock, take a look and see if you lock out the inside release. if the lock window where you put the key in is pointing at 3 or 9 oclock then its locked the inside release if its at 12 or 6 oclock then the inside release should work and then the cable may be bad, good luck.

A dealer or qualified locksmith can make a key from the VIN, provided the lock cylinders are original. Usually they will require proof of ownership before doing so.

If you able to open your trunk with the electric release you will be able to access the lock mechanism.

Once you have access to the lock it should be obvious if it is broken or just needs a little lubricant (silicone spray lube) sprayed into the key access slot.

PS: If you have a spare key that has less wear and tear on it, try that key.

remove the rear seat climb inside the trunk.and work out from there
