Should i buy a new engine?

I have a 94 mercury sable that broke down sep 08. i need to fix to get to school and work. i took it to purrfect auto and this is what the labor description stated:

"arrived with no coolant in the system, severe misfire and steam coming from exhaust. coolant in exhaust system. radiator leaking and probable cause of low coolant level and overheating. some contamination or oil in crankcase. has engine head/gasket problem. would need head valve job minimal if heads are ok. may cause lower engine damage (customer advised)
*recommendations*
radiator and head valve job ($1,400) if heads are ok"

what does the "may cause lower engine damage" mean? should i just buy a remanufactured engine? it seems it would be cheaper then fixing a 14 yr old engine (well it only has 40000 miles on it)

It is cheaper to get a new car. Lower engine can be damaged if there was too much coolant in the oil. Lower damage is unlikely. In my opinion your choice should be fix or new car.

Yes it would be cheaper to find a good used motor instead of having a machine shop charge you $750 to mic a head

2005 mercury Sable oil pressure sensor test. How to remove and replace the oil pressure sensor on a 2005 mercury Sable v-6 engine.

It's really pretty easy if you have the right tool. The sender requires a special socket. Buy a new sender from the auto parts store and rent or buy the socket from them. Disconnect the electrical connector from the old sensor. Then attach the socket to a ratchet and unscrew the old sending unit. Install the new one and reconnect the connector

The piece that turns my belt broke what is that

The part that turns your belt is the crankshaft and crankshaft pulley. If you are right about the crankshaft being broken, then your engine will need rebuilt. But in most cases it is cheaper to buy a rebuilt engine from one of the professional rebuilders. Check with you local auto parts stores and they will be able to advise you on the best rebuilder to use.

Need to check codes on my 2000 mercury sable, I don't have a diagnostic tool. How can I check code? can I jump pins to get flashing light codes?

No, you can't.obd2 requires a code reader to read the codes and you can't use the check engine light anymore. It is usually cheaper to buy one at walmart then to get someone to hook theirs up,check your options, you might want to buy one.

Engine overheat and oils spots under the car this 2000 sable has only 50K miles and the engine overheats, coolant levels are ok, no leaks (coolant), there is also an oil leak 3 or 4 drops overnight as far...

Have the cooling system flushed and replace thermostat. For oil leak try some oil stop leak from auto store, they work on small leaks( will take a couple of days to work).
