1998 safari van - removal of passenger internal door panel

You will need to bump panel gently up should release door also the bottom needs to be released from snap ons.good luck

Either use a putty knife or go to an auto parts store and get a door panel removal tool.

Under the hood passenger side. You will have to cut into the panel to remove to blower and then silicone it after replacement

Remove all the screws in the door panel. Remove window and lock controls. Make sure to get the piece by the mirror on the inside. Then gently pry all the way around the panel and slowly pull it off. Once it is completely loose, lift it up and off the door.

You need to remove the internal door panel, then you can see the screw to remove the side mirror. Sometime you need to remove the glass before you can reach the screw.

You will have to remove the handle & trim & complete door panel. Once removed, there is an assembly that includes the motor and the regulator that has to be removed, be careful in just replacing the motor as usually they are both worn so much that it's just better to buy the entire unit. I found one on eBay for 139 w/free shipping.

You're talking removing a few bolts and supporting the window to prevent it from slipping & getting broken during the repair. It can be a chore but I've done many with just a few tools & sometimes a drill w/bits to remove rivits. You may want to look at a vehicle specific manual that you could find at a local auto parts store, but if you do know how to remove the door panel, the rest shouldn't be too tough.

Remove screw from inside door grab handle. Remove door panel by carefully prying out plastic clips. Drill or chisel off pop rivets holding the handle on. Pull handle out far enough to disconnect linkage and remove handle. Install new handle and secure to metal panel with new pop rivets or sheet metal screws. It may be easier to reconnect linkages by removing the metal panel also.

With the carpet removed,hose down the windshield,side doors and rear doors.have someone inside to watch for water.If the windshield is leaking it may take some time to get to the rear.My van did the same and it was the front windshield.
