Can I swap these engines?

Hello, I have a 97 mercury mystique with the 2.0l zetec, which has only 86000 miles on it. I also have a 99 mercury mystique with a 2.0l vct, that has a head problem. I want to put the 97's engine in the 99. I did find that three of the motor mounts that I have found so far match up on both cars. Will everything match up or is this going to get more involved?

The 1997 doesn't have variable cam timing does it? If it doesn't it won't work. You would be better off just fixing the head.

99 mercury mystique icm location 4cyl.

The ignition control module on your car is located right on top of the engine. Follow your spark plug wires up to where they all plug in to a small black box often referred to as the ignition coil. Thats it. The ignition control module is integrated into the coil on this car. Hope this helped.

Where is the transmission filter on a 97 mercury mystique

It is under the drain pan. There is not a filter like on the engine. You have to take off the pan. Then the filter is right there!
