Turns over but wont fire 99 Saturn SL

If your 1999 Saturn SL turns over but won't start, there could be a few different reasons why. Here are some possible causes:

Faulty fuel pump: The fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel from the tank to the engine. If it's not working properly, the engine won't receive enough fuel to start. You can check if the fuel pump is working by turning the key to the "on" position and listening for a humming sound coming from the fuel tank. If you don't hear anything, the fuel pump may be faulty.

Dead battery: If the battery is dead, the engine won't have enough power to start. You can try jump-starting the car to see if that helps.

Ignition system problems: If the ignition system isn't working properly, the engine won't start. This could be caused by a faulty ignition coil, distributor, or spark plugs.

Clogged fuel filter: If the fuel filter is clogged, fuel won't be able to flow properly to the engine. This can cause the engine to stall or not start at all.

Bad crankshaft position sensor: The crankshaft position sensor tells the engine control module (ECM) when to fire the spark plugs. If it's not working properly, the engine won't start.

These are just a few possible causes of a Saturn SL that turns over but won't start. It's best to have a qualified mechanic diagnose the problem to ensure that it's fixed correctly.

1996 Chevrolet Corvette LT4 "Intermittent problems with starting the car"

Sounds like an intermittent fuel pressure regulator problem, or the fuel pump periodically doesn't run when you turn the key on (electrical problem). When you turn the key to on, the fuel pump should run for a few seconds to pressurize the fuel delivery system (you should hear the pump running at the back of the car). His "fix" is to just do this twice to make sure the pump runs and the proper pressure is at the engine when you go to start the car.
I would check to make sure the pump runs for a few seconds with key on. I would also check the fuel pressure before and while trying to start the car (to make sure it is in the proper range).

I have a 1991 Nissan 300ZX and when I turn the key on the fuel pump will not keep pumping please help

When you turn the key to on, not start, the pump should come on for about two seconds and then shut off. It won't come back on until the car is being cranked. Then it should be on, and remain on when the car is running.
If the car won't start, and you suspect a fuel or fuel pump problem, the best way to check it is have the fuel pressure tested. Correct pressure at the injectors is critical for the engine to get enough gas to run proper.
If you don't want the pressure test, and only want to verify pump is working, then break into the fuel line somewhere convenient and see if gas spurts out when you are cranking the engine over. If it does, pump is working. If no gas comes out, line is plugged or pump is not working. To test for power to the pump, a mechanic would check for power at the fuel pump connector while the engine was being cranked.

1993 Subaru Impreza engine problems

ok first question where did you buy the fuel pump tell me other try this when car is not starting go to fuel pump get a circuit tester have somebody else turn key to on position for ten seconds turn off then again if no noise from pump check for power at fuel pump there should be one wire that has power for obout ten seconds then cuts of. if power to pump and it does the ten second on and shuts of by it self then you got a faulty pump, now if no power at all on ten second teste then get a long wire thay can reach from battery to fuel pump hook up to your battery go to wire at fuel pump and hit it with wire from battery if you can hear pump going on them you have a bad contact ether at fuel pump conector or at relay conector or bad wire one thing when looking at conector at fuel pump you will find sevral wires two wires are for fuel level one power on ground other wires are for pump one ground and other for power to pump if any question ask me i will help i am a mechanic let me know

Chrysler Crossfire will crank but not start. It starts fine when it's cold, but after driving around or making multiple stops, it will not start again. I have already changed the fuel pump relay

You can check codes on these without a scan tool ! surprised your mechanic doesn't know this ! Put the key in the ingition , turn it on then off , then on , then off then on again an leave it on . Then look at where the odometer is , will show P codes .

How do u prime a fuel pump

If you're referring to a fuel injected gasoline vehicle, self prime takes place at key start. If you still feel the need to have the computer repeat this process (or re- self prime), turn the key all the way until the dash lights come on, then turn off. Repeat this 5 times then attempt to start. If all the windows are closed and the radio is off, when you turn key on with engine off, you'll hear the fuel pump at the rear of vehicle buzz or hum as it's priming the system.

92 honda civic turns over fine but doesnt start

ok, this is a commom problem with this 92 hondas,

it may be the pump fuel relay, which is under the dash on the driver side by the fuse panel.

here is a way to determine that.

when you turn the key on the on position

do you hear the fuel pump running while the engine light is on, and does the pump stop running afteer the engine light goes off?

if you do hear the pump running then it means that fuel pump is working fine ( since it way just replaced), but if you don't hear it running while the check engine light is on ( about 2 seconds) chances are the fuel pump relay is not working as it should.

also there are clicks that have to be heard on the starting process.

1 when you turn key to on possition

2 when the check engine light goes off( a click has to be heard just after it goes off)

3 after the car starts

If you don't hear this clicks, try to get your ear close the location of the fuel pump relay( near the fuse panel under the dash).

the fuse relay is just a bunch of circuits soldered, so you can get it to someone who knows how to solder and fix it.

or just get a replacement one at any junkyard. ( cheapp)

Fuel pump relay & fuel pump

when you turn the key on the pump should run to purge the system . so now you have fuel pressure for starting. this stage lasts about 10 seconds then the fuel pump doesnt turn on again till the computer see's oil pressure then turns the pump on. if the inertia switch has been activated it wont send the first amount of fuel.
