ACURA MDX Wet Floors

I have 2005 Acura MDX and just recently have noticed the carpert on the fornt divers and passengers side is soaking wet. I have vacuumed it up and it keeps recurring. It has been wet and rainy lately, it does not appear to be coming from the roof or doors that I can tell. Is there any chance it could be coming up from underneath when driving? Any solutions or ideas would be appreciated.

There is another possibility and that is the heater is leaking. It will be damp on the carpet when its not just raining. Sometimes smells a sweet. Feel up around the foot-well area near the center.

There are three places that water can be coming from. The least likely is from underneath, unless you've been driving through deep water (ask the kids about that if they get to use the car). ;-) The other places are from a plugged sunroof drain - just open the sunroof, and carefully pour a quart of water into the channel in the front and see if it finds its way through the drain holes at the front corners, and out the bottom of the car (it takes just seconds to make the trip). The third possibility is a gap in the gasket or sealant around the windshield (the water will run down inside the windshield pillar, and find its way to your carpet). The only option there is to have the windshield replaced (or at least removed and reinstalled - if you can find someone who'll do that). There's some chance that there's a rust hole under the gasket, too, particularly if the windshield was replaced previously by a ham-fisted tech who scratched up the paint when replacing a windshield.

SOURCE: How to use TPMS in Acura MDX 2005

The TPMS light will be visible in your instrument panel like your parking brake would if activated. The TPMS function is activated automatically once any of your tires are improperly inflated. Furthermore, it will identify which tire needs attention.

Passenger side carpet wet after it rains in a 2003 Acura MDX

check the bulkhead area under the wipers. the scuttle panel has a drain hole & tube that ducts rain water away but can become blocked by dirt and leaves etc, then the water builds up and flows backwards over the edge and down the back of the dashboard via the bulkhead joints. A knitting needle or welding rod can be used to poke the hole clear then test by pouring a small amount of water through the grille beside the wipers and ensure it runs away and does not sit.

Also check your coolant level, if it is down then the leak may be from the heater matrix inside the car, this is more difficult to fix and needs the dashboard removed in a lot of cars.

The 3rd possibility is a leaking windscreen surround. Silicone would fix that, get the black stuff and put a thin bead around the outer edge of the windscreen rubber and smooth neatly with a wet finger or cloth.
