Hi. The EGR valve is a very sensitive issue. Buying a used one will always result in a continuing fault code. I recommend purchasing a new EGR valve. Before you install it, be sure to clean the EGR housing thoroughly. there can be carbon build inside where this valve is inserted. this carbon will trip the code if its not cleaned out properly.

please rate and god bless.

Has to be a fuel problem somewhere along the line ,poor mileage is the result of too much fuel being burnt and what ever is causing this is the problem ,now as this vehicle is a 5.7 litre with a massive CO2 footprint then i would respectfully suggest that you trade this vehicle in for scrapage and buy a nice new kia seed or better still a niceford fiesta diesel or a VW polo diesel ,all these cars will do 70+ mpg which is a far better alternative than a gas guzzler yank tank .Any way this one --try hooking up a code reader if it has a OBDII and reading the PIDS with engine running as this will show the air flow and timing advance as this should give a clue as to whats wrong ,also use a timing light with a magnetic sensor and check each lead in turn in case you have a failed coil pack and the induction sensed timing light will show if a cylinder is missing or fluctuating under load .

I have been logging my gas mileage on my Jeep Grand Cherokee for the last 9 years. My jeep has a Straight 6 cylinder motor, that has given me about 17mpg city and 23 mpg highway. This last summer my jeep...

I would start by pulling a spark plug and looking at condition. With that kind of mileage, has it ever had a valve job? Valve's burn and valve springs get weak, could have a carbon problem. Also compare the brands of fuel you're using, many have changed their formulas - I've noticed it with my own cars. Also have your mechanic do a compression test.

My 1992 saturn is burnning a tank of gas every other day, at almost 50 miles of travel it will have burned a 1/4 tank of gas. Is this good M.P.G.? IF NOT,tell me something that i can try .

If this is the case the engine has to be running very rough. If not you have a fuel tank leak instead
If no leak is detected, have a tune up performed with a dianognistis test

Engine check lamp light for fey seconds. Error code 32 is diplayed. Jeep cherokee 2.5td 1995.

Review the correct year for Error Code 32:
32 (1984 only) power loss/limited lamp or circuit
OR
32 EGR gases not working (1988) - check vacuum, valve
OR
32 (1990-92) computer didn’t see change in air/’fuel ratio when EGR activated - check valve, vacuum lines, and EGR electrical

Hope helped (remember rated this help).

Saturn sl2 emissin problem

If the SES light is on, take a paper clip bend it in a u-shape and jump the scanner input positions A B. This should flash the ses in sequesces to give you the trouble code, Please see the following link. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/ Refer to the code to see what the issue may be. SES lit means that there is a emmissions related issue. Refer to the other links for additonal information on O2 sensor resistance, and the egr valve solinoid. Check the EGR is relitive easy for operation. Remove the vaccum hose and place a hose of similar suckon the hose to pull vaccum if the diafram underneith retracts, hold the vaccum by plugging off the tube with your touge if the diafram retracts, will not hold the vaccum, it is bad. The solinoid should read 40-60 ohms if good. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/index.php http://www.aldlcable.com/sc/pages.asp?pageid=21

MPG 16-17, with 93 octane in my Hyundai XG 350 L-WHy?

Incomplete combustion due to ignition problems, poor compression, worn or broken EGR valve, sticking injectors, old O2 sensor, dirty air filter, and just about anything else that affects how well the engine would run. Start with a code scanner to find out if there are any stored fault codes.
