2000 s10 Blazer dies very 3-6 weeks for no reason

I replaced the fuel pump already. Then every three weeks driving along and it just dies I wait 20 minutes and then it starts again and drives again for another 3-4 weeks dies again...keeps happening. Now over the winter for 4 months didn't die then first warm day driving along dies wait 20 minutes starts again --I drive it again who knows when it will die again?? My mechanic says remove the electric start as he doesn't know what else to do. My calalitic conferter went out 2 years ago replaced it, 6 months later service engine now light replaced sensor came back on again. SO, now my service engine light is still on, car runs for 4 months then dies again? ANy ideas

I would check your ignition system. you would need a meter for this but look for broke or loose connections. if it was a fuel problem i dont think it would just start up after 20 minutes. or you might try your ignition switch. if its shorting or something then ya well it would cut your engine off real quick

Why the engine starts, runs about 5 second, dies and then won't start, if you wait 10 minutes it starts and runs fine, this happens once every few weeks/months or twice in one day, no set pattern. hav

I saw what you replaced, didn't see any testing? What testing have you done? Make sure battery has a full charge?
When the problem is ongoing, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?
If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems.

You may be having an intermittent failure with the fuel pressure regulator - checking the fuel pressure when the truck won't start may pinpoint this problem. If the pressure looks OK, this same problem can be caused by the ignition system as well (ignition coil or control module).

only half way there if you have a tbi check the crank sensor/ cam sensor that is the first line of business on that truck if the crankshaft sensor fails the truck stops dead when you wait a few minutes the sensor re energizes and the truck will work again for a bit antiknock can cause similer problems but not while the truck is running

Hello, I have a 97 blazer and had replaced the fuel pump about 3 weeks ago. while i was driving last week the truck just died, with no hesitation or warning. now when i go to start she just cranks and...

try checking the fuel injection module out, ( "spider injection module"). My 2000 blazer did the same thing, fouled out the plugs and all, i hooked the fuel pressure gauge up and had good fuel pressure, just no start. I took it to the shop and they found the injection module to be the culprit. you'll need to replace the plugs if it was the problem since you cranked and cranked it over.

Just having fuel is not enough on this engine, here are the spec's. Even 1 psi out of spec can cause a no start.

Vehicle just keeps cranking wont start.

Make sure that your fuel presure is up to at least 60 psi if not that could be your problem. If not, make sure you are getting spark, if not could be your Crank sensor or ingniton module ECM. Usually if your Engine control module wouldn't be bad because of your fuel pump is working, but may not be putting out the proper pressure for the fuel system. Fuel Pumps are a Problem with that year..
