IN addition to the 20mm wrench, before the pressure line, look at where the pressure line leaves the pump (front of pump, below and to the right of the fill cap). Wipe this clean, run for a minute. My o-ring went bad here, cost $10 bucks to fix it (power steering seal kit) from autozone. Don't just buy shelf o-rings, high pressure/high temp situation. If this doesn't work, reccomend above.

Jeep makes a whining sound when I turn left sometimes. Doesn't do it when turning right ever and only seems to do it when driving forward. Only happens at low speeds and doesn't seem to affect...

It MAY,,,,,, be the start of a power steering pump problem.Just maybe. The pumps can moan and groan without leaking,so keep an eye on it.Hope this helps.

Check the power steering fluid. The resoviour could have a leak in it. This is located under the hood normally it has a cap about the size of a half dollar

Power steering fluid is leaking out as soon as I fill the reservoir. Makes noise as I turn the wheel weather the Jeep is in motion or not.

The noise is due to air in the power steering system. It will come out once you fix the leak, by setting the fluid level, install the cap and start and rotate the wheel left and right for a minute...shut off and check level again.

If its a whining noise, check the power steering fluid level and fill if low, otherwise you may have a pump going out or a loose belt

1999 Gr Jeep Cherokee-antifreeze issue

how often does the warning comes on doing the week or in two weeks? if it was a one time thing or this takes place every 3-5 months i wouldn't worry about it. i will make sure that the radiator cap is on tight. you said that all hose seem to be in good condition i would check the radiator where the cooling fan covers the fins and the water pump because it has a warn hole at the base that will seep out antifreeze when the inside seals are going bad these will cause the smell also.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee leaking coolant and power steering fluid

Just a heads up, $10 bucks will buy you a seal kit for the P.S. pump. I topped mine off for a couple months, then the oring on the high pressure line (from pump, front center) blew and dumped the reservoir in a matter of miles.

The line can be a stinker to get off, recommend driving the car for a few minutes to heat up the pump a little. Don't forget the 20MM wrench.

Power steering periodically goes out only when turning left

It sounds a lot like an internal valving problem. Sometimes this can be cleared up by changing the fluid. To do this, disconnect the low pressure hose (the one that does not have a pressure fitting on it, just a clamp) on the back of the pump. Catch fluid in a pan and disgard it. Refill with new fluid run the vehicle and turn wheels all the way to one side, center, refill, all the way to other side, center and repeat in order to remove air from system.Remove hose again and repeat entire process again. If fluid appears clean on the second drain, re-fill with good quality fluid and use a power steering conditioner such as that made by Lucas. If after a few days, the problem does not subside, you will need some mechanical diagnosis & repair. However, I have had many systems "come back" from this kind of problem by simply doing what i've outlined.
