SOURCE: car runs rough at idle

clean out ur throttle body, just follow the hose from the air filter to the throttle body. Need 2 people to do this. Don't remove the hose completely from the throttle body. Just enuff to be able to spray ur intake cleaner into the throttle body. Do this especially if its worse when the motor is hot, as this would confirm the problem.

If wiggling the wires cured the code, then one of the wires is broken inside the insulation. Pull on each wire one at a time. look for the colored insulation to stretch, this will be the broken wire. For the other car that wont rev up, this is a common when the catalytic concverter is plugged up. This will also cause MAF codes, and in turn, TRAC OFF light.

SOURCE: a p0011 code and camshaft sensor replacement did not cure problem

well i know on the v6 that is true you replaced all of them. Not sure of 4 cyl but seems like it should be the same. Also I know on the v6 the variable valve timing set up sometimes did some weird failures triggering a cam sensor code. It could be anything from sludgy oil hanging up in the vvt hub or clogged passages or bad solenoids. but before going into all that(well besides maybe an oil change) I would go for the crank sensor.

Have you checked the spark if it not firing or out of time. Still it's probably one of the two

My 2005 nissian altima wont start, it turns over good and the fuel pump is good, but wont start...

Free spinning or does it sound like its trying to start? If its free spinning, timing chain possible. If its trying to start, look into the ignition system including crank and cam sensors. You will need a scan tool that read live data. Codes on the PCM or no?

Checked battery and was told cells where bad then replaced battery, then car wont start, then replaced starter - still wont start! any suggestions? its a nissan altima 2005 2.5 liter

I really need more information, does it turn over fine? If you turn the key and get nothing but a click, in some models there is a security system that cuts the power to the starter, in which case you would have to bypass the security system or take the car to a dealership to have it reset. If it turns over fine, check to see if you are getting fire to the plugs. If there is no fire going to the plugs, then you might have a bad ignition module or bad crankshaft sensor. Check to see if you are getting enough fuel pressure. Your timing could have jumped, if you are getting spark, gas, and have good compression, then the only thing left could be the timing. If you could give me more information I can tell you more. I hope this helps

1998 Nissian Altima Not starting

Nothing by either party was said about the starter. The battery and wires can all be in great shape, and if they are and the owner hears a clicking noise when trying to start it its a pretty good bet they may have a starter that's locked up.

One good 'ole trick on those starters. If you can reach the starter, a couple of sharp rapes with a hammer will have it starting again, then you know it time to replace the starter.

1998 Nissan Altima

Oh come on now. Mardavis, assuming you have a fuel injection system, you have what is known as a cold start valve. It seves the same purpose as a choke. It is computer contoled and upon cranking the computer fires a small injector which gives the engine a rich shot of fuel. If the cold start valve, also know as the 5th injector, guess what, it won't start.

Now, if by some reason your nissian still has a carb, it is close toa cut off, then you have a choke problem. Meaning your linkage is sticking and your high step cam is not being set.
Just thought you might wanta know.
