2000 VW Beetle airbag light on

My daughter bought a 2000 VW Beetle, after she got it home the airbag light came on. After researching the car out we found it had been in an accident and the airbags had been replaced, and the seat belt wire had broken apart. Since the airbags are new and the seat belt wire has now been fixed how do we reset the airbag light?

Need to rewire electrical system. need diagram.

Check out faxon auto literature. They list the original VW service manual for your car.It should have the wiring diagram that you need but you could confirm that with them before you bought it. I've used them befor and had excellent service. Hope this helps.

The warning light above the airbag light on the dash. 2002 VW

Malfunction indicator light it is the symbol of your engine with a line of suffering and the word "CHECK" -- this could be something minor like needing a spark plug to be replaced (common problem) or to something more serious like engine electrical work needed. a flashing engine light is the more serious so you are not to worry.

VW Beetle Airbag Light

The problem is the seatbelt latch. The wiring right at the latch and the strap are broken. Seems there is not enough slack in these wires to allow much stretch. You may be able to repair it if you can splice these wires back together if not about 160 to 170 for a new one. you can have it put on a machine and if the code leads back to the latch then you know this is the problem.
