There should be a safety trunk release located on the upper rear window deck platform- a black handpull . If it is still intact- it should pop the trunk lid. At least it works that way on a 1997 Crown Vic.

Never done a crown vic but it is all the same. You will have to search out the screws holding on the individual dash panels. Some are underneath, some are in the ash tray and there are usually concealment tabs that cover up the screws that hold the top on. It is a matter of experimenting the first time unless you can get a diagram from somewhere.

Check the timing. It may be off slightly. I would up the octane on an engine that big too.

let me guess....... you are using regular 87 octane gas ? run it down to almost empty and fill it with super and see it it works you probably have about 100,000 miles on it the camshaft, lifters and valve springs, timing chain are all worn

You must have owned several vehicles in the past, that did that.
You either work on them yourself or you have a local repair shop you go to.

Be specific and give some details,when a repair shop, fails to met your expectations, and properly repair your vehicle

The speed sensor in the transmission is most likely the problem.

I'd say knock sensor, especially if your getting "pinging" noise when accelerating.
