Dropped a pen in my front winshield defroster

I have an 89 ford crown Victoria and i placed a pen on the dash, when i drove away it rolled into the front air duct on the dash board. I can't even see it and i want to get it out because as an old car it gets very hot and i don't want a bigger problem. So how can i breach my air ducts to retrieve my pen??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I can't say 100% on this but some vehicles still use vacuum to operate the blend air doors (electric solenoids or earlier cable to operate the tempature door).
You may have a vacuum issue and defrost would be the default position because you need your winshield clear more than heat on your face or feet.
Start at the intake manifold and follow your vacuum source.

Wipier motor burnt out on 05 crown victoria?

Either the motor winding shorted or; the connectors on the motor are loose/corroded causing arcing and overheating or; the linkage is binding putting too much load on the motor.

Sounds like the wiper motor needs replacing.

89 Crown Vic brake lights work when park, not when moving.

Replace, or adjust your brakelight switch located on the brake pedal arm.

2004 Ford Crown Victoria no air flow through main air vents

Chances are the electronic/digital HVAC control unit is bad. This same problem happened to me and I had to replace the entire unit. The dealer wanted to charge $800 for just the part! After I freaked out on them, they found a used one for less than half. Sorry, but there's no easy fix here.
