Engine shuts off going down the road

Yesterday, the 93 oldemobile was going down the road about 60 and all the dash lights lit up.  The car engine shut off and power steering went out. I barely got the wheels turned to get the car off the road and the steering wheel locked.  Almost slid down a hill.  After 3 minutes the car cranked  and ran fine.
I just had the plate (tells the pistons when to fire) replaced because the car would shut off while idling or backing up in the drive way.  Would run rough and acted like it would quit going up hills some times.  Other times it ran just fine.  Mechanics can't seem to find the problem.

We had a similar problem and it was the connector that connects the ignition module (bottom of coil packs to the wiring harness. The technician spread the socket connectors and it solved the issue.

My 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 with the 5.7 Hemi engine threw me for a loop yesterday. Stay with me on this as it gets weird. First the engine shut down as did the tach.

You probably should take it to a qualified repair shop before you replace part's that you have no clue how to diagnose . Replacing a PCM/ECM would need programming , dealer only .

Have a 98 GMC sonoma and was driving down the road yesterday when all of a sudden all dash lights went out. Checked all the fuses and they were all good. Radio lights go out to, but when i turn the key...

This can be a poor connection at the back of the cluster, pull it out and check all the connection points to make sure they are fully seated to the cluster.

CTS 2004 shuts down when making a stop and car lost thrust on Hwy

Tell the dealership uhugh. if the check engine light comes on, there is an error code which gets stored in the computer. on the nicer vehicles (like yours)it stores vehicle information at the time when the error occured....eg battery voltage, rpm, speed, temperature, rpm etc. you need the find out what the error code is. that would give you an idea on where to start looking

hope this helps
